also, it's a crime that this franchise is so successful. stupid characters, plot that relies on characters being stupid, grim awful ugly english style setting, yuck. i guess it's still better than 90% of what else is out there though.

Indeed, the movies are quite a disappointment compared to the books. But any franchaise that can motivate a ten-year old child to read an 800-page book is not a bad thing. No, it's not Pulitzer Prize winning material, but it's not mindless stupidity either.

IMO, the biggest crime of the movies is the amount of material that is cut out. In that regard, I'm not looking forward to this movie. There was an incredible amount of character development in this book that certainly will not make it to film.

Ha, well... I used to work at the local public library and always got access to the Harry Potter books a week or so before everyone.... hehe

If you had read the book, you'd know that "Snape kills Dumbledore" isn't actually a spoiler, but a decoy.


Also, to the first poster, who said "he's too old to play Harry Potter"... pfff. In the book Harry ages too. In the last book he's already a teenager in his 17's, just like the real actor. He isn't supposed to stay 12.

Dunno 'bout you but I'll always be a HP fan... as I am a big fan of Looney Tunes, Hanna Barbera, Disney, etc... these names shaped our childhood and Rowling's now just another one of those names to the younger generations. You've got to respect that, if you think that HP sucks than you're obviously an ignorant prick.

PS: HP is one of the best written books out there regardless of the story, she could probably write a story 'bout shoe laces (just shoe laces, not alive shoe laces, just plain ol' shoe laces) and make it interesting

anyways, point is, no matter how old you are, it's still very entertaining, kinda brings back old memories of your childhood, and really gives you alot of imagination.
