I run a laser-cutter. An Amada model X1, 4KW. Takes 2000 litres of compressed air per hour and 12 batteries of nitrogen weekly. It will rip through 5mm construction steel in less than a second. Top speed for 3mm steel (most commonly used thickness) is around 5000mm per minute.

Yours for only $950.000, automatic plate retrieval and stacking system not included ;)

I have a need to pop balloons over a mile away. Since I moved out of home I have ran out of ways to bug my sister.

Sorry, that was bad english on my part.

Obviously you don't go near the machine when it's running. There's a safety device setting up a lightfield which shuts down the machine when penetrated.

I'm talking about a very neat system that can remove the plate it has just cut, all the various pieces being microjointed in place, and then help itself to a fresh plate. It runs completely unmanned all night.

The plateholder is actually 9 feet tall holding a total of 12 tons of steelplates.

^^^ It's about $1.100.000.

I should also add that lasercutters are considered to be lab-equipment and not at all suitable for industrial use yet.
Industry however demands it.
