That glass wasn't completely full at the start, notice the level at the very end, it is higher that when he started to put bottle caps. FAIL.

Pogo is right aswell I was going to mention that. The bottle caps dont take up too much space.. plus the top of the glass is pretty wide which also give it alot of room then it seems. @2:24 it looks like it is a couple of mm's over the top.
http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/surten.html do the same experiment and add a drop of detergent and see if it works. ;)

Edit: @Ultimate hows isn't it possible? the water molocules are attracted to each other I think by a charge(not sure) anyways the water holds onto each other and tries to form a spherical shape like a rain drop =D

If you freeze it at 19 sec, you can see that the glass isn't completely full.

Besides, if the glass truely was "full" you couldn't put one cap in without it spilling.

The surface tension is strong enough to hold the water in place, all it takes is a slight breaking of that surface tension to make is spill, like poking it with a q-tip or a chop stick.

this is called viscosity

the tendancy for the water to spread over the surface of any other object, in this case that object would be the bottle cap that's floating

that is why the person kept having 1 cap floating at all times or else the water would've overflowed, being attracted to the edge

the water molecules are polar, meaning one side is positively charged (+) and another is negatively charged (-), so that the water molecules stick to each other. Surface tension. the water will baloon up as much as possible above the actual top before spilling

So the idea is that you take the bottle caps, and put one on top of this water being held together by surface tension. By putting the caps on top of each other, the bottom one falls into the water, while the top one retains the surface tension, keeping the water from spiling. The caps themselves don't take up too much space once inside the cup because the cup has a wide mouth for the water to baloon over. He just keeps doing this

With the bubbles it got kinda risky though... i'm not quite sure but i think he was trying to get rid of the bubbles underneath the caps after the first "ploink" so that the caps would go directly from surface tension to underwater rather than pass through air and push aside water
