The sound is fucking terrifying when lightning strikes that close. You could hear it in his voice too, sorta tight throated. Lightning struck the ground like 50 meters from my house once, and the sound was nothing like thunder. It was sort of a hollow shreiking pow, and glasses and doors in the house rattled and shook. Scariest thing i ever witnessed. PHOOONG!! Insane sound. Im not really afraid of thunder, but i know that if that lightning actually hit me, god daaaamn... I'd rather be shot by a fucking cannon.

If you press play / pause you can see streamers come up from the house and other objects near where it hits. Right before lightning hits objects send up streamers for the bolt to connect to and once it connects it lights up...pretty good video very cool

@cassus - know what you mean - my parents live next door to a church and it struck it one night (while we were watching X-Files no less). Sounds like an explosion, and damn scary. Still love thunderstorms tho :)

if you do the pause thing you can also see what i presume to be electromagnetic energy or something causing interference in the camera. thats a fucking awesome vid, the power of lightning is amazing. i remember a bolt went off right above me once and i could never imagine how fucking terrifying it is, it actually makes you automatically crouch into a ball.
