outstanding compilation!! Loved that flying side-kick at 4:38...it knocked the guy clear out of the ring and about another 15 feet. Makes me proud to be a TKD practitioner. 5/5

lol we have to go over this everytime a TKD clip is posted. You are right to an extent erico. Thats one of the reasons I got out of TKD and into Hung Gar. TKD practitioners have great kicks but they have terrible defense. All you have to do is step in with a jab to the face and its over. They also use so many kicks because its point sparring and punchs arent worth as much.

I'll agree TKD has its kicks but not much of anything else.

One of the first martial arts I learned was TKD so I also speak from experience.

^^I don't know where you guys trained but I am very big on teaching my students defense. I don't like the whole fighting with your hands down thing. That's nothing but an ego thing in my opinion.

If what you say is true koryo then your students are very lucky. I mean obviously i was taught defense to in TKD but it wasnt a big thing. I agree about the ego thing as well, its pure stupidity to keep your guard down.

I have to admit I dropped TKD because I felt it wouldn't be much use in a pub fight. It's great for keeping you in shape and keeping you flexible, but in a pub/club situation you don't have the space to perform kicks.

Or maybe I was just rubbish at it :-P

btw music was terrible.

I always thought TKD was a joke and completely infective but looking at that video...the guys move so fast any of them would knock my teeth out...

At that level its impressive but amateurs remains un-impressive.

I've taken a bit of karate as a kid but I learned more of my fighing in the pen.

dude. why do they NEVER use thier arms, for anything? i mean if you block once in a while you wont get hurt so much. and somethimes i saw where a punch could have been very effective.

Wow, I did not know TKD had only kicks. It looks more spectacular than the Karate competition I saw. Not sure how useful it is irl, but looks great!

TKD will be changing in the near future actually. Before, like in this competition, the punches were only worth points if they were effective ( ie the other person keels over or something dramatic). New rules are coming out, however, that make punching worth as much as kicks. We should be seeing a new wave of styles coming in soon where they have to really up their defenses to prevent cheap punch shots to the chest.
