I don't think he deserves a metal. If we gave out metals for these types of things people would be handing out thier own justice everywhere.

Vigilantism is wrong. It's a crime in of itself. It threatens our rights and freedoms more than most other crimes. So it should be taken very seriously. I'm not going to say I wouldn't do the same thing if I was in his shoes. But If I did it, I would do it with knowing that I could get life in prison and I would expect it to be treated as a first degree murder.

I also agree with Opperator that I would at least wait until the end of his trail. I'm sure I would be a bit more smart about it. Wait for the trail to end, wait a few years for everything to just simmer down, that way nobody would suspect who did it. Besides a boy needs his Father with him and not in prision, especially after what he has been through. And as a parent you have to be responsible, get control of your emotions, set aside your feelings, and do whats right for your family. If this man did go to prison for killing the suspect, his son would be even more fucked up.

Well for one I can't blame the guy for shooting him, and I can't be upset wtih his sentence, but as Don Corelone would say "That is not justice, his son is still alive." As flawed as it is, we have to have these legal preceedings to prevent people from doing things like this.

the guys dead now, does he know hes dead? no. death is no punishment, especially quick, painless, death that comes with no(minimal i guess) warning. theres no satisfaction in turning off someones brain. the real satisfaction would be to keep him alive and have him suffer much worse in a basement of some sorts with broken knees and an angry rapist or tell teh fbi hes a terrorist and have him sent to guantanamo bay or something...those guys know how to punish someone. no matter how much those prisoners there are trying to have the release of death, those bastard guards will go to any and all lengths to keep them alive, however inhuman. thats revenge(or it would be, if the US were seeking revenge on them instead of holding them with no charges or trial for the most part).

the trial definately shouldve been done first to actually see some evidence instead of a gun happy father who lets emotions over-rule facts.

I guess that in your view, the pedifile deserves our compassion, but the father of the real victom here deserves none. The only thing pre-meditated in that situation was that assholes plan to obduct and corn-hole that little boy. Shot in the face is WAY too good for him.
To hold this father accountable for acting out on his agony, invalidates the points about compassion and justice that I think you were trying to make.
