I think the snake was in the bird`s nest, possibly eating it`s young, that`s why the bird was being so aggressive.

I wouldn`t think twice about defending my boys, even if it was a big, drunk, cracked-out construction worker.

I understand the bird, and almost feel its desperation..

The snake`s obviously from the python family but I dunno specifically which one.

Also, fun fact: woodpeckers can hammer the bills up to 20 times a second.
