Man Living In Utah Cave Happy

MOAB, Utah, -- A 48-year-old man who has not used money in nine years and resides in a desert cave in Moab, Utah, said he loves his simple existence.

Daniel Suelo said he shops for clothes by going through garbage and he is content with living an existence in which he does not have to worry about a job, mortgage or other concerns that most people have to deal with, The Denver Post reported.

"The understanding that, really, we all possess nothing is the cornerstone of all spiritual endeavors and religions," Suelo said.

A former Peace Corps volunteer, Suelo said he also will not barter for food or rent because he considers bartering another form of currency.

Suelo took up his lifestyle nine years ago despite having a master's degree in accounting and a degree in anthropology. He says he will never embrace a conventional lifestyle again.

"I have no idea what the future holds, and I don't worry about it. But the longer I do this, it seems absurd to go back," he told the Post. "It would be like going back to slavery."

And at night, he sifts through mounds of bat droppings to look for anything scrumptious.

Having his story published is probably going to be the end of his blissful little existence. I can`t imagine the folks of Moab putting up with his derilict habits on what is, presumably, public land.

I really envy this guy. I`ve dreamed of doing this same thing for years now, only in Alaska. It would be so amazing to be able to just give up the all consuming material world.

@The Living End...you want to try this in Alaska? It might be beautiful in the summer, but unless caves there come equipped with heat you`re going to be damn cold in the winter.

These guys make me nervous. They spend long enough without civilization they start thinking it`s laws don`t apply to them.

^ Loops: You mean Dick Proenneke? Yeah, he did die.

In California.

At age 86.

(Which, need I tell you, is about 11 years older than the average life expectancy of a North American man. How long are you gonna live?).

You should check out `Into The Wild`, LivingEnd. Dick Proenneke is a trooper. Damn man if I could vote you down twice I would, simply because what you said is just plain dumb.
