8th-grader Suspended for Wild Bengals Ha...

HAMILTON, Ohio — A young Cincinnati Bengals fan has been penalized for clipping.

Dustin Reader got the NFL team's stripes and "B" insignia cut into his hair as a tribute to the team's good season.

When he showed up to school in the southwest Ohio city of Hamilton on Monday, officials put the eighth-grader into in-school suspension. The school says its code of conduct prohibits extreme and distracting hairstyles.

Reader's parents and barber say they don't understand why the haircut is out of bounds. His father says his son just wants to show pride in the 6-2 Bengals.

School officials say he will continue to do his studies away from other students until the hair grows back or he changes the style.

It`s things like this that make me lose faith in the education system. There are more important issues at heart than someone`s fucking hair. It doesn`t matter what people wear or look like, if a teacher can make a subject interesting and engage the students, then they will learn.

I say BRAVO to the Hamilton, Ohio school administrators for making a huge national story out of what otherwise would have been a local 1 day story

It is a fucked up rule.

If they didn`t give this guy an in-school suspension, i`m pretty sure the repressed GOTH/EMO kids would rebel, and tear down that school with Evanescence/Rage against the machine marching music.

It would be chaos, black eyeliner all over the walls, and sheep`s blood smeared everywhere.

I`m really happy for you and I`m gonna let you rep your team, but Kanye West had one of the best retarded hairdos of all time.

Big surprise that you guys are against school dress and conduct codes. You can`t wear t-shirts with sports-team logos at any public school where I live...no difference to emblazen one on your head. If you paid more attention to studying instead of trying to distract everyone around you, you might actually start to learn something.

That`s just stupid

When I was in school kids had mohawks, "liberty spikes", colored hair, all sorts of different styles, hell even mullets here and there. I had dreads for most my time there (I would have really been pissed if they suspended me, it`s how my hair grows) and this guy gets screwed over a b?

Why don`t they just give them all full body uniforms, buzz cuts and face masks. There, problem solved.

^ Uniforms are actually a good idea...many schools require them.

its like... all the people here that went to schools that oppressed its students think its ok.

while everyone else, that went to school, where you could pretty much wear whatever you wanted (within reason) and style yourself however you choose (within reason) thinks this is ridiculous. im with the latter. your hairstyle or clothes have nothing to do with receiving an education. its discrimination to refuse to educate someone with a mohawk, or a shaved b in their head. neither of these are obscene in any way what so ever.

This is nothing new. They were kicking kids out of school in the 60s for bangs in the eyes, kids in the 80s for buzz cuts w/ lines and lettering of all sorts like this kid here.

This really isn`t news, but it is a retarded situation.

All the people here saying students should be allowed to dress as they want, what about when some students start showing up with swastikas shaven in their hair, or T-shirts spewing hard core religious crap. There is a good reason for those rules, you do not want to create a precedent that would open the door for extremists.

^never happened while i was at school, but i assume they would be asked to take it off, as people would find it offensive.
