Is the Universe Fine Tuned for Life?

It's time to put the "Fine Tuning" argument to rest. However, I'm sure it won't be too long before a new apology comes along that also roots itself in a few warm and squishy scientific notions that are carefully cherry picked for their theistic god to leech off of.

Anything humans have designed rarely work the first time, especially anything complex. The same with nature, only it doesn`t have a consciousness(except for us) to help it decide what worked and what didn`t. Only the result of a `trial` can determine whether the process will go on for more trials, kinda like NAND logic gates.

As for fined tuning of the universe, why not? The chances of a sperm entering an egg and creating "specifically you" is probably 1 in a trillion trillion etc.. but nonetheless, YOU exsist.

Every living organism on earth is a product of chance, AND trial and error, why can`t a(or many) universe, out of a trillion trillion etc.. universes, have fined tuned physical properties to allow for life like ours to thrive?? It IS chance... not GOD, just my two cents.

Right.

What`s "fine tuned" for us isn`t fine tuned for something else. We`re a culmination of consequences and certain things had to happen before the possibilities whittled down to us showing up.

Fine tuned assumes that everything was set and available perfectly all at once. The fact of the matter is that our existence was imperiled at every turn. Our own sun had to collapse THREE TIMES before we got sufficient amount of heavy materials to exist.

But what are the chances that we could show up as we are? 100%. How do we know that? Because we`re fucking discussing it right now. We`re an inevitable conclusion when all the right variables come together.

This is like trying to argue that if you rolled a dice, it wouldn`t land on any side because its improbable.
If you take a 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000-sided dice and roll it, that it will eventually settle on one side is inevitable, NOT improbable.
I see the universe, among other things, as a GIANT randomizer, so this arguement, for me, is a little simple-minded.

the universe is not fine tuned for life ,life is fine tuned for the universe by the process of evolution :)

^^^ Ah yes, thats elegant and also highlights, once again, humans tendancy to think everything is built around us.

I wouldn`t say the universe is finely tuned for life...just that it`s so fucking big (and old) that the odds of naturally-occuring life are astronomically high.

there was only one argument in this and frankly it was not that good who cares if 99999999999.27 is hostile on either side of the argument if you pull that out your going to look stupid as much as i like this kind of shit there was no point in it just kept on bashing the same drum. and boring me with the exact same thing and what the fuck did we really need that read out to us?

What of the Creationist claim that life is fine-tuned for our universe? Hasn`t this argument only given more proof for the unlikelihood of randomness given the chances of life in an incredibly hostile universe? Oh well, I guess it`s not a requirement to look at the other side if you`re arguing ignorance with ignorance.

No christian argues that the "Universe" is fine-tuned for life, just that the earth was created for humans. This guy`s logic doesn`t work based upon that assumption. Bad athiest BAD.
