Richard Dawkins: One Fact to Refute Crea...

Dawkins identifies what he views is the single most compelling fact to refute Creationism -- but states that the real problem lies in convincing Creationists to listen to the evidence. "What they do is simply stick their fingers in their ears and say 'La la la,'" says Dawkins. "You cannot argue with a mind like that."

I was thinking about the intelligent design/creationism argument about the banana(genetically engineered to it`s current form by humans, so technically it is intelligent design) and for some reason I thought about my balls.

If creationist took the same kind of evidence that they use to prove ID as valid evidence, well there wouldn`t be any ID believers, but if they did, I think that we could all agree that the scrotum is the most retarded design in nature. They`re gross, no girls or gay guys like the way the scrotum looks, it`s wrinkly, semi-hairy, it`s always in the way , and it`s in a terrible location, anything between your feet moving up is directed to the most sensitive(and quite important) part on a man.

It`s clearly came out of necessity of having a part that needed to regulate temperature a couple degrees lower that the rest of the body, and to be proximal to the fucking bits, but if an engineer brought the human male design to my office, I would not let it go into production without fixing the coin purse problem first. If you`re making up the rules as you go along put the god damned balls on the inside and make sperm thrive at 98° like everything else.

Playing rugby, wrestling, skateboarding, and having asshole friends, I can tell you that if I could redesign man, the pill bag would be the first thing that I would change. but like I said before, if evidence were a two way street for believers, there wouldn`t be any believers left, and on the off chance there is a god; "Fuck you, Balls suck"!

I agree, but the horse is friggin` dead. Dawkins makes his living promoting this stuff...hoorah for him and capitalism. But it`s plain to me that creationists aren`t much of a threat anymore and it boggles me as to why folks expend so much personal effort in arguing with them.

i was taught to question everything and take nothing for granted. whether it be at school, church, politics among a few. with that said i would like to know whether the genome similarity was only among types (ex. mammals, birds, etc.) or does it cross between them.

Dawkins says there`s to many simularity`s to not suggest that we are of the same family tree. If there is a " designer " why would he design everything different?

You`ve gotta be kidding. You`ve probably also never left your little town in Wisconsin or been to other countries either.
You`ve definitely not been paying attention the last 200 years or so.
America is beyond suffocated by puritanic and christianic "values". I`ve talked to morons who told me the earth was 6,000 years old. I`ve had religious relatives tell me `you can`t argue with an idiot` because I`m agnostic and I just don`t have faith.
It says `in god we trust` on american money!
In court you have to swear on a bible! An evil book! (I`ve read it).
People who refuse to use their brains are a threat, and we need occasional reminders so as to try and keep their numbers as low as possible.
Kinda like washing your hands to keep germ counts low. Sure you don`t have to, and you don`t have to take showers, ever. But would you really want that?
When bad bacteria levels get too high, the host body gets sick. When too many dangerous idiots multiply, societies get sick also. And if you think societies are all similar, and none are perfect then you`re deranged.

I`ll clarify the last point: All too often I hear people use distorted "logic" and say, "Oh, so you think Europe and Canada are paradises huh? Well there are no perfect societies!"

And I always have to say `OH FUCK!` "DUH! But a lot of other societies are incalculably better than the u.s.a.!"

For me, there`s way too that needs to be improved for me to think that things don`t need attention.

Also, everyone knows that politicians need to say they`re religious just to get into office.

I don`t think this refutes the claim of ID at all.
Think about it, if you are a designer your process of creating things is a stepwise process. You build things up so that one things leads to another. Therefore the things you have created will be partially related based on what you`re already designed & learned.
Why should things be fundamentally different?
Animals compared to animals - of course they`re going to be genetically related to some degree!

I think people should (like with everything else) take what Dawkins says with a grain of salt. His opinion is not the answer to everything unlike what it appears some people believe. People should develop their own opinions based on what they know and believe. Regurgitating what he says is no different to someone else regurgitating what a priest says, and blindly following his teaching as opposed to a priest`s makes you no less of a fool.

@sabu. No one is reguritating anything. Atheist don`t become atheist by watching youtube videos. Its not a process of self indoctrination.

Dawkins does however express clearly the facts and his beliefs, and the latter so happens to fit my own.

Listen to what he said near the end about the stubborn geologist... as a chemist I can relate well to his example. Geology is the study of the chemical and physical transformations of the Earth`s composition over millions (even billions) of years.

This is totally incompatible with a 6000 years old ID world. Unless your pretty damn imaginative.
