money-grubbing mpaa assholes charging us for theatre ticket then dvd version then more for widescreen then more again for blue ray and again if we want to watch in another country or on another device...
any luck this same theory will work on them and they`ll get abandoned in favour of cheaper, no bullshit alternatives leaving them with NOTHING!

It`s not just Microsoft that have adopted this business model.

Adobe Flash has a near monopoly on media rich content publishing on the web (one that Microsoft`s Silverlight is having great trouble breaking btw).

I mean, it`s probably not quite the case now admittedly, but a few years ago the vast majority of Flash games and animations were made by young people using either pirated or "perma-trial" versions of Flash.

Also, a similar approach seems to have been adopted by Apple for their industry standard Logic Pro music production suite. Where previously, when you bought a copy it came with a dongle, it wouldn`t work without it - which it has to be pointed out, was never cracked - there were ZERO working pirated copies in existence. But since version 8 onwards, you only require a serial to use it... and then surprise, surprise - the very next day after Logic 8 was released, working pirated copies were available via torrents.
