School Cracks Down On 'Freak Dancing'

DOWNEY, Calif. (KABC) -- A local high school looking to crack down on sexually suggestive moves at school dances has come up with a solution to have students sign "dance contracts."

The "Sponge Bob," the "Jerk" and the "Reject" are some of the popular dances of today's urban youth that won't get students in trouble at Downey High School.

However, there are other types of sexually explicit dances called, "freak dancing," that Downey High School and other schools are cracking down on.

"Some people are too dirty, like they get too sexual and stuff and it doesn't look good on the school," said Alicia Zamano, a Downey student.

"It got to the point where it was simulated sex on the dance floor, and we needed to make a stand on it," said Tom Houts, Downey High School's principal.

Administrators say that the inappropriate style of dancing has become a growing problem in school-sponsored dances. So they came up with the solution to require every student to sign a dance contract when attending a formal dance, agreeing not to dance inappropriately.

"You can't have a female turn around and the boy rub against her, and they boy's hands need to be in the appropriate place," said Houts.

Each student attending the dances will be required to wear a wrist band. With the first warning that you're dancing inappropriately, the wrist band gets snipped off. With the second warning, the student gets ejected from the dance. All of this patrolling is done by a group called the Freak Patrol.

"We have four ladies that are like the drill sergeant types, and they're not afraid to speak up and say what the rules are and get between these kids and really give them stern warnings," said Gordon Weisenburger, the director of school activities at Downey High School.

Parents are having mixed reactions, and so are students.

"I think it's pretty cool that they're trying to protect for our safety," said Stefani Lang, a Downey student.

"I completely disagree, simply because I feel that when you go to a party or when you go to a school dance, you should be free to express yourself within a limit," said Rosa Mendoza, a parent.

School administrators say that they hope the contracts will keep the students dancing and busting the right kind of moves.

So you think they should be free to express themselves within limit, but you disagree that there should be restrictions?

Express yourself within limit, correct. Howevfer being a parent of 2 children myself I do have to agree with the school system. It`s not like they are banning dancing altogether, just sexually suggestive dancing. Leave that to the adults at bars and dance clubs.

Wow, really? Ever figured that your limit might be different from other people`s limits? And your daughter probably kisses you with the same mouth she uses to suck other people`s dicks.

Call me old fashioned, but you`re at school. It`s a place to study, not rub your dick on a girl`s ass. Although I would do it without hesitation if in the situation. It`s just that I think that schools without any form of limitations are shitty schools.

Oh please what crap. I think they`re just being prudes, but they obviously haven`t thought this through very well. Allow me to demonstrate:

Sally (16) is freaking with Billy (16) on the dance floor. Scary "drill sergeant types" eject Sally and Billy from the dance. Now, they`re outside with no supervision.

A few months later Sally`s in the maternity ward after being knocked up by Billy, and Billy is in the emergency after being beaten up by Sally`s father.

Yep. Fixed that problem. If they`re gonna act on their sexual urges, we`d better make damned sure they`re in a place with no contraceptives - like the carpark outside the dance hall!

Safety? Hu? What? Did I miss something? Did I forgot to read the part where all `dirty dancer` are believed to carry concealed weapons? Probably one of those Carrie type students who can`t stand the cool kids from having fun. Please girl, grow some balls, cause it will be very unlike you`ll ever need your ovaries with that kind of attitude.

Uzo, are you a complete idiot? Two things:

1. I highly doubt they just send the students outside with no one supervising. Either they are escorted to their car, if they drive, or held in the school office until their parents arrive. They can`t just kick them out of the door and lock it from the inside.

2. Once the students have left school, they are no longer the school`s responsibility. If the students decide to go drive off and do something stupid, you can`t hold the school responsible for that.

Oh, and trying to promote kids to act on their sexual urges (which EVERYONE learns to control) is only going to help in the playing out of the very situation you described. How about you mature a little bit, and try not to sound like a total douche?

lol what a shitty attempt and generally bad idea. Wouldn`t be surprised if someone organized some other dance at the same time where they won`t be restricted by that dumb shit.

Also what fucking dream world are you living in where they have enough personnel to spare to escort people they kicked out to their car or some shit? They can barely afford teachers and supplies at public schools think their going to have someone in the faculty playing bouncer too?

would love to see a follow up to this shit, especially since it will fail miserably.

Prudes. Jayne do we really need your commentary after news articles?

I don`t get a chance to vote it down so I don`t have to look at it.

Dionysus187, it`s called a chaperone or an office worker. They have them. They are volunteers, teachers, or pre-existing staff members. No one`s talking about being a bouncer. And if I`m not mistaken, aren`t there school security officers assigned to each school? Or maybe where I live in Vegas we have the only system in the country with that kind of setup.

might as well just shut the school down in that town, it appears all the residents are clearly retarded.

in the end, the school is just doing it to cover their asses, think about it from a parents perspective. if you went to pick your kids up from a school dance and seen that type of shit going on, any normal parent would flip out because the school is allowing it. now they can say they`re making a half assed effort in preventing or discouraging it
