I`m not against the idea of emptying the moon of fuel (is it really full of helium?), filling it with rubbish and building a fortress on it. But let`s not use all the fuel on drag races, and can we wait till we can counteract the changes it would make to the gravity/orbit tide things?

Venom orbit is not affected by the sattelite`s mass, although I don`t know how much of an effect it would have on tides etc...

Imagine there were a rope connecting the Earth and the moon, and the tension in the rope is the pull from Earth`s gravity, now start spinning it around in circles, the faster you go, the larger than radius of the spin wants to become, and because the tension of Earth`s string (gravity) is fixed, the faster we go the bigger the radius, the slower we go the smaller the radius..

Venom, we aren`t going to mine half of the moon, your not going to look up at the moon in a thousand years and half of it isn`t there, what we take from the moon would not be a large enough amount to change it`s centre of gravity and spin.

And again changing it`s mass won`t affect the orbit speed, how can it there are no resistive forces acting on the thing like wind etc...

Removing mass adjusts the rotational inertia. Adjusting the rotational inertia will adjust the angular velocity.

Of course this is all negligible on the scale of mining the moon for fuel.
