FL - It wasn’t the Hamburglar who did it but his partner, the “Milk Shake Burglar,” according to Cape Coral police.
Officers charged Sean David Hartman, 18, of Cape Coral, with breaking into a McDonald’s on Cape Coral Parkway East last Thursday and trying pour himself a milk shake, of course, hence the alias they gave him. He also is charged with stealing drinks from a Publix.
When caught, Hartman told police he is a homeless, jobless college student who “has been messing up,” said Officer Justin DeRosso.
His undoing came about when employees at the Publix on Santa Barbara Boulevard last Friday said they saw Hartman apparently stealing a six-pack of Dr Pepper and a four-pack of Yoo Hoo chocolate drink and detained him for police, according to reports.
That’s when Hartman confessed to breaking into the McDonald’s the day before, said Sgt. Brian Hite.
“Hartman stated he used a handful of rocks to break the glass at the McDonald’s,” Hite said.
Employees said Hartman caused $500 in damage to the door.
Once inside, he headed for the milk shake dispenser, police said.
However, “when he pulled the lever ... the milk shake went everywhere and he was unable to get a cupful,” Hite said.
Hartman, according to Hite, said he had to settle for a Dr Pepper, which he poured from the soda fountain.
Hartman was booked into the Lee County Jail, where he is being held in lieu of $4,000 bail on burglary and petty theft charges.
