Released today by the office of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg that reveal vendors at gun shows selling weapons to people who tell them flat-out that they couldn`t pass a background check -- something that is in fact against the law.

on the flipside, innocent americans can purchase unregistered firearms so federal agents wont barge into their home to collect their weapons. In new orleans, the national guard had a registry of firearms owners and collected their weapons following hurricane katrina.

Private owners should still be able to sell from owner to another. just limit the number of guns per person say 5 long guns 1 or 2 handguns or shot guns per person and transaction.

And selling over 5 guns every 3 months/6 months or year, depending on what makes sense, unless you get a special exemption for selling your whole collection will automatically put you in as a dealer and require a license or penalty.

hm. then i wonder how serial numbers would work if its just cash and carry and they don`t even need your address. im pretty sure an unregistered gun is a felony in my state and also per each bullet. so after the show are you obligated to get it registered with the state or county? anyone familiar with this?

^ Chuckus, yes. These guys are obviously not just private collectors selling a few guns. They are obviously commercial, and probably very dependent on the loophole for business. I think the honest answer is to recognize that anyone with over 5 or 10 guns, should fall under the commercial requirements, if they start selling them in public, or at a high transaction rate (maybe 1 a week). Complicated any way you slice it though. It`s a big gray zone, but a line should be drawn through it somewhere reasonable.

bullshit propaganda video. private transactions between in-state residents are legal in most states. those sales are legal, the videomaker baits sellers with a completely irrelevant question.

of course jackasses like exploder (see above comment) comes up with random numbers of guns to define collectors and dealers. 5 or 10, what the hell? i have 7 guns, that makes me a dealer or something?

just like how the BATFE randomly defines short-barreled rifles and shotguns. utter garbage.

and since when do Bloomberg lackeys from fascist NY state care what happens in Nevada and Ohio?

I understand the point about the misuse of registered users lists, but this argument, in my opinion, doesn`t overcome the vital importance to not sell guns to criminals or people intending to misuse a gun.
Also where does this video mention registration? It talks about a criminal background check.
There needs to be reasonable system in place to address the 2nd amendment, and you guys need to be reasonable too.
This obvious loophole need to be closed immediately and the only change, I can see, in availability will be to people who have a criminal record.
As clicker01 said `Fuck registration`

I mentioned registration. I have, for the time being, a para military 9mm made in Czechoslovakia. It has no safety and it is not registered in the United States to me or anybody else (for all I know). If I get caught with it by an officer I know for certain that I am going to jail for some time and in Virginia per each bullet in the clip.

I would say `Fuck Registering` if I was a hitman or a TEENAGER. But get real I am not going to jail for 5 years because I get searched and have an unregistered gun on me.

I am not certain even if someone was breaking into my house I could legally use it. Now, back to my question. Does any one know how registration and CCL`s work? If I have a CCL does my gun have to be registered? If I shoot someone trying to break in, wouldn`t my gun have to be registered for when the police show up? Maybe it only has to be registered if you have a CCL or are out in the public.

you guys dont know shit im better off calling up a gun club or the nra.

^ dmens, if you could read instead of jerk your knee, I said:

"... anyone with over 5 or 10 guns, should fall under the commercial requirements, if they start selling them in public, or at a high transaction rate (maybe 1 a week)"

Maybe offering more than 10 guns for sale, any place, any time. And what I said is that then you should have to follow the commercial rules, that is get a background check.

I am just trying to point out a line that might be reasonable to stop people from using the loophole to be full fledged gun dealers without following the rules.

I am against gun controls in general, because they don`t work very well. But I think people who are going to deal guns like those guys in the gun shows selling 100`s of guns should follow the rules for gun dealers.

Maybe the U.S. should stop producing such huge stockpiles of weaponry. Maybe then these weapons would`nt be available for everyone at discount prices. Then again, you need a firearm right? Because everyone can get a firearm to threaten you and your family. Preservation of you and yours?

I can understand why people purchase a rifle to hunt for wild game. As long as you eat the meat you actually provide for yourself i don`t have a problem with hunting.
But having a gun in your house just to protect yourself from anyone (possible nutjob) who can get a gun anywhere is kindof silly (but rightious in a fuckedup way)
Maybe you should work on diminishing the availability of weaponry. And by diminishing I don`t mean selling to the highest bidder, ally or not...
Sometimes I think the U.S. did not properly develop past the second world war. This war dragged the country out of a depression and I don´t think the U.S. ever got itself out of this mindframe.

A ridiculously great part of your economy is based on the development and manufacture of devices of war.

Some people refer to the U.S. as the fourth reich. I disagree with them, yet it becomes harder and harder for me to just live in my every day bliss.
