If you`re dumb enough to take out a loan you can`t afford, I really don`t give a shit if they take your house away. Michael`s right, of course, but it`s not like he`s saying anything a ninth-grade moron shouldn`t already know. Maybe you liberals ought to think about paying attention in your math and reading classes.

You don`t need the big hand of government to protect yourselves from all the people in this world that want to rip you off. All it takes is a few critical thinking skills.

People do dumb shit. Sometimes, enough people do enough dumb shit that they can tear down the entire economic system. Should we intervene on that or just stay hands off and let the fucker burn.

If an asshole next door to you sets his house on fire because he`s a moron and it takes your house with it should there be repercussions?

Should there be codes and rules to prevent that or should you just hope that insurance covers it or perhaps allow you to murder the guy in vengeance.

how why and when we deal with disputes is the reason we have a government. Massive corporations manipulating people is a gray area. SHould we let them use their fortune to manipulate us? Buyer beware right? Or should we level the playing field by preventing them from using abusing their advantage and regulate how much they can bend the truth.

You can`t just boil it down to government = bad. The reason the US had a revolution in the first place was that government (or the monarchy) served only the rich and powerful. In fact, it didn`t even do anything to protect us and so from the individuals perspective, their government was the rich and powerful aristocrats and business men.

A democracy is supposed to be a ruling body of the people for the people. If you take it`s power away, who takes control? Did you ever think about that?

Let`s see....in Canada, where we have rules that govern how banks can loan money to people, specifically with the idea that the masses need to be protected from the banks, we had a minor flutter in our economics....the country that is the free market champion has some of the worst unemployment, foreclosures and poverty rates.....hmmmm.....I wonder if it`s safe to assume that yes, you really do have to make sure that people can`t go getting themselves into a bad loan. Because you know what, when they fail, everyone fails a little bit.

Moore`s a douche. He`s just cashing in on the newest "issue" that this country is having to make a film about and fill his own wallet. He doesn`t give a shit. He cares as much about the "average" American as any politician does.

If I had the means, I would get the hell out of this country and take my family with me.

^ Excuse me, but while Canada`s banking system is, indeed, among the most solvent in the world, they still do not control their banks anywhere near the degree that Michael Moore would like to see.

Moore would have the banks actually owned and run by the government. Is that what you stupid liberal fuckheads really want?

Chukus, what world do you live in?

"If an asshole next door to you sets his house on fire because he`s a moron and it takes your house with it should there be repercussions?"

THERE ARE REPERCUSSIONS!!!! Fuck, just wait until your insurance company gets a hold of your neighbor...he will rue the day!!!

"Should there be codes and rules to prevent that or should you just hope that insurance covers it or perhaps allow you to murder the guy in vengeance."

EXCUSE ME????? What rules could you realistically consider that would stop a moron from burning down his own house? It`s not like we don`t ALREADY have many fire and home safety regulations that cover just about every idiotic thing a person could do. What are you going to do, assign a nanny to the idiot?

"how why and when we deal with disputes is the reason we have a government."

Try reading the U.S. Constitution sometime...it`s obvious that your knowledge of government responsibilities are woefully lacking.

"A democracy is supposed to be a ruling body of the people for the people. If you take it`s power away, who takes control? Did you ever think about that?"

It goes to the states and to the people!!! Our main problem is that the federal government has taken too much power away from us. You might want to go back to the founding father`s time and have a little conversation with them. You obviously have a great misunderstanding what their well-thought-out intentions were.

And if you want to know why our banks enjoy such lax lending policies, you might just consider how much they have contributed to political campaigns to both parties. Hell, our government mandated the unaffordable offers to low-income homebuyers. AND YOU THINK MORE GOVERNMENT IS THE SOLUTION????

Actually the USA is a Federal Constitutional Republic. Where it is a form of democracy but it is regulated by constitutional law.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitutional_republic

A democracy is a `majority rule` where there are no laws and the laws are demanded by the majority. It`s a form of `mob rule`

"And if you want to know why our banks enjoy such lax lending policies, you might just consider how much they have contributed to political campaigns to both parties"

And there in lies the problem. Corruption and bribery.

A state run government can be bribed. The people can be bribed. The founding fathers understood this and the counterbalance was supposed to be a well informed population by virtue of a free and fair media.

Because the same corporations that are lobbying our government to fuck us are the same ones giving us our information is the reason the founding father`s ideas aren`t working right now. I`m not saying that big government will fix this, you`re right, it would just empower the corporations. What I AM ssaying is reducing government certainly won`t and would also empower the corporations.

It`s not the right answer. the size of government is irrelevant. I don`t know how to curb corruption. I wish I did, but if we know major corporations can lobby for their legislation and the people can`t seem to get the ear of the government, taking away the one thing that gives us any power, a governing body that we elect and is responsible to us, seems counterintuitive to me.

Explain to me how reducing government will curb corporate/government corruption? Relyign on state government just means corporations will lobby state government. The issue is what`s the check and balance on undue influence on the system.

According it Eisenhower, it`s us and personally I think we`re failing because we`re so fuckign confused.

We need a cap on how much money you can make and have. Having an excessive ammount of money that you do monthing but use to make more money with, which you inturn horde, means that you are directly denying that money to those around you who need it. This is in reality, totally social abberant behaviour.

This gets at the fundamental problem with free market societies. They promote an idea of never enough, or there is no limit to what you can make and what you should be able to have.

As to the critique of the Canada banking system, you are right, our money is still made in the same way as US money(Fractional reserve banking) and we have little control over said money, but, and here is the huge but, we have the laws and regulations to look out for the little guys. the masses. You know why? BEvause the masses make up the majority, even if they don`t have the money to prove it. And our government is a tad socialist, and we understand that it is the masses that make up your country. Not the super rich cream of the crop.
