I love NASA so much. People really are dolts for thinking that all they do is waste money. So much of the tech we have nowadays, and take for granted, came as a result of what they have done.

Amazing.. absolutely so fantastic.

Truly man has grasped the edges of the nothingness.. I mean if that guys space chair broke down, that`s it.. he`s just going to float away and experience physics in a horrible way.. probably re-entry.

hellrazor: Keep on eye on Richard Branson, Burt Rutan, and the X-Prize folks. NASA is quite capable when it comes to hardware, but they`re not in it for profit or to make space travel common.

The next great leap of technology is the ironic one...making it simpler and cheaper to mass produce.

That is so epic, but you see if I were up there I would kill everyone of those triumphant moments by saying something stupid like, "I`m on top, on top of the space!!!"

The problem with the American space program is that the public doesn`t give two shits about it anymore. The real push nowadays is for entertainment technology. Look at the state of portable music 10 years ago, and look at it now. See how far we`ve come in that short amount of time? Touch screens, a massive improvement in the ability to store data, Wifi connectivity... Now think about how 40 years ago, we were STANDING ON THE FUCKING MOON without any of that technology. Imagine if we had made the same kind of progress, or had the same kind of funding as the entertainment industry. Unfortunately, the public lost interest in the space community, and now its reduced to sending glorified lego robots to other planets, instead of colonizing and exploring the universe like we should be. Hopefully someday a country that values the enrichment of mankind more than the amount of money they can make will step up and pick up where we left off.
