Just out of curiosity I would`ve liked to have seen the targets he was shooting at just to see how his accuracy was. I guess that`s a little beside the point of the video, but again just to see how well he shot.

^ Apparently learning to kill quickly and accurately comes first, Ted.

"he needs to learn how to count to 8."

In a shooting range you have to make sure your cartridge is empty before replacing it, thus clicking till theres no more, its not really a specific safety rule, but most do it to make sure. :)

I got a tad feeling this little dude was firing blank shells, but then again he was being supervised pretty thoroughly.

Sadly this is safer than having guns around the house and NOT teaching him about guns.

It`s like Sex Education, the best prevention to an "accident" is education.

^^@Starmander
In IPSC you can dump a mag full or not whenever you want to optimize your time and reloads (if you have to move and only have like two rounds left in your mag, you might just as well change it while moving to save time). There are exceptions in some courses where there are mandatory reloads but that was not the case there.

However, in IDPA, you get penalized if you dump a mag that still has ammunition in it. You either have to keep it in your pockets or count your rounds and reload only when it is empty. But the rig and the pistol the boy was using were not legal for IDPA competitions.

And I`ve never heard of a range that requires the shooter to dry fire his gun at the end of a magazine before reloading. And more importantly, normally you can`t even dry fire like that at the end of a mag because the slide stays to the rear when the magazine is empty. This pistol is an exception to the rule because either the owner has installed a rubber buffer around the recoil spring (which can sometimes cause the slide catch to not work anymore) or just has modified the slide catch to disable it for some reason. Also, these definitely did not look like blanks. You could even hear some steel poppers being hit sometimes when he was shooting. If you don`t know what you`re talking about just don`t say anything instead of saying bullshit.

And for Dadoboy, this is an electronic device that gives the start signal and records the rounds fired and elapsed time. They use it for scoring at competitions.

And may I also add that this kid knew how to handle the gun safely. Kudos to that. Kids who cause accidents with firearms are the ones who were never introduced to them in the first place and never learned to respect them and use them safely. And this is true for both kids and adults.

I guess there`s two ways to avoid child related gun accidents:

. Teach him how to shoot a gun safely
. Not own a gun

I`d go for the second one, but hey, I`m not saying thats how it should be

Not owning a gun is in no way a good preventative measure against gun accidents. Teaching them is.

People have an irrational fear of guns for some reason.
