Ah nuts, I was ready to pay my fine in 5c pieces over here in Sydney Australia but don`t bother guys, the Currency Act limits payment with 5c 10c and 20c pieces to $5 =(

Well she didn`t really count them anyway and the guy had to find and count 8800 pennies, and he also wasted a whole lot of time trying to make the cashier to accept the change. Oh, and had his car impounded and was forced to walk 15-20 miles. Doesn`t really seem he came out on top.

I would just like to say, they got off lucky. Yes it`s true that pennies are legal tender, but at least with in Canada it`s legal for a cashier to refuse loose change that is not rolled if it is more than what one roll of coins is worth.

So in this case if he brought in 50 pennies she couldn`t deny taking it. but because it is 8800 she can refuse to accept the payment.

WIN! But her attitude and lets face it, by he sounds of thing she wud hav gladly gone `down town` before counting those 8800pennies, the fact that it got the cops means this must have cost the tax payer a whole lot more!
