You can make a wooden hook with two pieces of wood, carve two pieces of wood, one with the eye where the line goes, and the other one as a spike (if you`re better at it, make the hook), make a flat inclined cut on both ends so they can both fit together in a V. Tie them up.

You can use a shirt as line, just cut the fabric in a rectangle-spiraling way to make a long line. Make them two if you need to reinforce them. Beware of sunburns.

Check how much it can pick up without tearing appart, then make the wooden hook barely as strong, so if you catch something that would tear the line, the hook will break and you can replace it.
