Insurance companies are spending 1.4 million dollars a day to lobby against a public alternative, if only they would spend all that money taking care of their customers, maybe we would need reform.

Bill Maher is nothing more than a fucking hypocrite.

He hates those "corporate assholes" that he feels should be punished. I wonder if he feels that way about those corporate assholes at HBO that helped give him a fukn career.

He hates the rich assholes that need to be "taxed the fuck out of." Last I checked, what kind of car, how big a house, and what is Bill maher`s payroll??

He makes fuin of the AMA, but what he doesnt tell you is that Universal Healthcare will be no different, except that the government will decide your fate, at the expense of the taxpayers.

I can`t wait to see Bill Maher start crying when it is he, the coporate, rich asshole he so claims to hate, get taxed the fuck out of. I bet hi story changes then. Leftist hypocrite.

Universal healthcare is not necessary. Regulation on what we currently have is. The US doesn`t have the money for this retarded universal shitcare system, and neither do the people they are going to extract it from. Thats why making regulations on the insurance companies would work more in our favor.

Oh wait, I forgot. The Dems love to De-regulate everything. Thanks a lot Bill Clinton, Chris Dodd, and Barney Frank you fucking retards.

Obama and democrats are spending the US into a hole. The dollar will soon be worth half it is today. There is NO SUCH THING AS FREE people, someone has to pay and that someone is you. Everything else you buy and earn will be taxed higher and higher.

Government is NOT the answer, it is the problem. Look at most any given problem that involves government...take government out and see how quickly it gets better.

BTW ParticleMan420...the reason prices are high has more to do with the fact that some of those without insurance don`t pay their bill so yours goes higher to offset the cost. Stop making the straw man argument of MONOPOLY this and MONOPOLY that.

People, please. Universal healthcare is not about paying more, it`s about paying LESS.

The US of A spends 17 percent of it`s GDP on healthcare, and that number is expected to rise to nearly 20 percent if the current policies continue undisturbed.

Canada, with it`s free healthcare, spends only 9,2 percent on healthcare. Even though everyone can get it. Plus, drugs cost only a fraction of what they cost across the Southern border.

Why continue tossing money into a system that`s ineffective, treats people like sh*t, and only cares about it`s own shareholders at the expense of all Americans?

It`s not about liberal or conservative, it`s about goddamn COMMON SENSE.

Bollo Delux - no...Liberals are saying they`re willing to give Government the power to use TAXATION to FORCE everyone else to pay larger contributions which they THINK will allow everyone in society to live with health and dignity.

I don`t know where your from, you may be from the US, but this county has deep roots in self reliance and a distrust of authority. If you think Government is the answer to all your problems then WAKE UP brother because you`re DREAMING!!!

Health care needs reform but that is a far cry from needing Government to take over.

^slayzer - would wake up in the morning and go to work if your government said that you could not be paid? What if your government said that what you do is to important to society to profit from? You`d tell them to piss off and quit to find a job that you could profit from. Do you think your doctor went to 8 years of medical school because he cares about your ass getting over a cold? He did it because he knew he could earn a FAT ASS PAYCHECK! Demonizing PROFIT on the large scale is as asinine as demonizing PROFIT on the small, personal, scale. All those EVIL profits you claim go back into the system for research, development, and yes, some goes to the share holders.
All People are driven by personal needs and wants and Capitalism, although not perfect, says "Hey, if you come up with a really great idea that helps lots of people you can sell that idea and be rewarded for your labor." They system you seem to advocate says "Hey, if you come up with a really great idea that helps lots of people, FUCK OFF it`s now ours because we need it and you should simply feel good for having helped."
