the savings plan has a pretty big hole in it. What happens when you spend all the money you saved? If you get a serious disease such as cancer there is a pretty good chance of this happening.

I love Ron Paul, he`s the wisest and most nuanced guy on the scene, as well as being the most honest. But I still think he makes one mistake that influences alot of his ideas:

He shouldn`t trust private (corporate) America to do the right thing so much.

What the states seems to have become is a corporate anarchy. It`s not benign any more. Without a very fundamental overhaul of the entire system, it will keep getting worse.

Maybe start repealing the the rights of a company as a person. I don`t know, but it`s gone way out of control, and the same people are now writing all the rules for themselves as well.

So maybe private healthcare would work great, if the unemployment weren`t at 10% (or higher in truth), average people could still have stable carreers, and companies were not the predatory monsters they have become.

Oh for the good old days that Ron grew up in.

I agree Ron Paul is thinking the people that run the corps are somewhat honest, and just want to make some money. These guys won`t be happy till they literally own people as slaves. (and in fact they almost do).

Example: My corporation I work for just took away 15% of my pay, they have been profitable and are profitable even in the middle of this recession...yet they use it as an excuse to fuck all the workers than can to get even more profit as they feel people can`t afford to quit with a 15% pay decrease.

I think Ron Paul makes some good points and he is very smart. I`d love to spend some time watching him in a real debate with someone else smart about this. It might even make him realize how badly the US needs country wide run healthcare.

First, I have said it before and I`ll say it again. I like Ron Paul for beeing honest and speaking his mind. But he shows ignorance and actually lacks nuances in this position.

First, I`d like to point out there is more people in the usa with no health care coverage than there is canadian citizens.

Second, I agree that some canadians are crossing the borders to get medical care because there is a freer market in the United-States. However it is a very very small numbers, and they usually do it in very precise medical sectors to get faster access. So to bring this like its a major issue in Canada is wrong, and its a not a good argument because its simply not true.

It is obvious, that as a whole, the canadian health care is by far more accessible than the one in the states. There is not a shred of doubt. Zero. Niet.

Obviously, if you can afford it, you can get faster and high quality treatments in the states, but for normal people, COMMON be honest.

I`d say this: wake up. The canadian society as a whole, even though has major flaws, shows more EMPATHY towards his citizens than the USA does. Its a sad fact. Thats also one of the reason why taxes on income are so high, global health care has a cost. And with wars over wars, and looking at how the american economy is going, I doubt the health care system will get any better than it is for US citizens.

So you can go ahead and think that the private sector will make it all better for you if only the bad government would not get in their way, now thats dogmatic thinking for ya.

What the US needs is a balanced approach like the Canadian one. Even though not perfect, it gets a lot more social milleage...

Mr. Paul is talking about paying for healtcare costs out of pocket on as per need basis? Huh? Surely he knows that one bolt of lightning in you life, like cancer, complications with childbirth and many other unexpected issues would burn up a savings account like exploder blows thru weed--teasing, mate. But seriously, that would be like trying to save to buy a car with the contents of your penny jar!

Everytime the government gets involved in something they screw it up. The more involvement the more they bollox it. But still we need the protection of government regulation to protect us from corporations which have no heart but only avarice.

I agree with him when he says healthcare needs oversight and regulation by the government, not total overhaul. If only lawmakers could not be bought and sold by pharmaceutical , insurance, and medical lobbyists. It all goes back to corporate leverage over lawmakers and the will of the People to hold them accountable. This uprising is the most exciting thing since the riots of the `60`s This is democracy in action. We are living in an exciting age.
