But the new testament change all that. Now we can ignore all those stupid things in the old testament ( like killing those people who mix two types of cloth) but we have to have to maintain the belief that eternal torment is the just and equitable punishment for not loving the Lord??

Damn, I cannot even make up anything as screwed up at the genuine Christian philosophy.

Just a point of info:

In the Bible, Sarah is not actually Abraham`s sister. He claimed she is his sister to deceive an Egyptian pharaoh.

But I would have to agree with the spirit of the video, which is that there are a whole lot of hypocritical views on marriage within the old testament of the Bible.

Also, Abraham had a child with his servant b/c his wife Sarah could not have children and she knew he wanted a son so she took matters intro her own hands. However, Abraham predates the laws found in the OT. Also, I don`t think Abraham ever married her so that`s not an example of marriage.

As for Solomon, he was not praised for his 1000 wives. It was viewed as very sinful of him. He was instructed by God not to marry pagan women of other nations. So no, this is not an example of a good marriage.

Lot did not marry a pillar of salt. It`s like saying a person married a pile of ashes if their spouse has been cremated. It makes no sense to say that. Partly b/c the person wasn`t a pile of ashes when you married.

EDIT: that quote from St. Paul was taken waay out of context. They left out the beginning of the sentence that says "Now about what you asked..." He`s responding to a list of questions and the questions was "is it good for men not to marry?" But they threw context out the window.

This video was very dishonest in portraying any relationship they could find as condoned by God. I`m almost surprised they didn`t take a quote about Soddom and Gomorra out of context as another example of how God wanted people to live.

Well it was either rape them or you would have to buy them from their fathers, rape was a bargain. And even if you bought them some fathers would trick you into marrying the wrong daughters, then you have to buy both of them, can you imagine if you had two sister wives ganging up against you all the time, it`d be torture.
