The mysterious cause of the death of a young man who fell off from the third floor of a hotel in China’s Hubei province on Wednesday has prompted as many as seventy thousand people to attempt to bar the police from taking away the young man’s body. The local authorities have mobilized thousands of riot police to cope with the chaos. The public’s reaction appears to have been sparked by outrage at what is believed to be a case of corruption, torture, and murder.

North American people are subdued with simple apathy. Media tells us that we need to rely on others to make the changes we want.

They can`t use gun and tanks anymore because they need to look after their international images, and more importantly stability of the country. The global down turn has made many jobless and angry. Unfortunately they will use their old trick of adducting people after. However it is good to see People Power!

The sad thing is this isn`t enough to topple any world power.. out comes the water cannons, dispersion weapons, gas, and kettling.. soon there`ll be drone swarms keeping us in line (3 phd`s at my uni last year involved programming a swarm of unmanned armed aerial bots). I don`t know what can be done to save us.. but it`s out of our hands..

Stuff like this gives me goosebumps. When people are oppressed and simply have had enough and fight back.

I find it ridiculous that many of you are suggesting that we in North America (US specifically I suspect) ought to be doing this ourselves. It`s belittling to the Chinese to compare our situation to theirs. Indeed, there is corruption within our system and numerous injustices. But contrary to what many of you seem to believe, we don`t live in a dystopian police state. We do have freedom to protest and to speak our minds, as well as to peacefully resolve many of our issues. I`m also tired of hearing it with the Iranian protests. "US should have totally had the balls to do the same thing when Bush stole the election." The fact is, all of you who suggest that we start rioting are still here. The government has yet to come knocking on your door. Why? Because it`s not as bad as you paint it.

Many of you seem to believe that revolution is necessary for the most minor of events, and for not breaking into full-scale anarchy and rioting, people here are somehow weaker. My main point is, stop comparing these events with the US. They simply don`t compare, and it`s completely silly to suggest that we have it as bad as these people. Rant over...

governments should indeed be afraid of it`s people....not the other way around. I have the feeling that soon (in 10-30 years) we are either going to have an event of the scale of 3rd world-war, or there are going to be several countries taken over by their people, like what is happening in Iran now.
