Texas Cop Tasers 72 Year OldGreat Grandm...

The police claim that after Kathryn Winkfein was stopped for driving 15 miles over the speed limit in a construction zone, she disobeyed an order to sign the speeding ticker, used profane language, and became “violent.” They say the officer who taserer her and took her to be booked for resisting arrest was completely justified.

However, Winkfein says that’s a lie, and the video appears to back her up

That looked like resisting arrest to me. I could not make out what the screaming banshee was saying so I cannot comment on weather she was profane or not but the tone was not polite.

the FIRST thing you do is gab the taser?! are you FING SERIOUS!

!!!the taser is not a fucking compliance device!!!

the taser is supposed to be used instead of a firearm where possible. how hard would it be to put an elderly woman into hand cuffs? i agree she should have been arrested, but the use of deadly tasers is out of fucking control.

WOW! Ok lets put a couple things into perspective. She is 72 years old first. Bad mouth and not compliant ok, I can see that but its quite obvious she was not out of control or threatening the officer. If however she was too close to the traffic putting the officer in danger, he did a bad job of pulling her over. When I was pulled over on the highway the officer over his loud speaker told me to get over further off the shoulder. Obviously to prevent a traffic accident. In this video it is clear there is more than enough room to get further off the road, lessening the danger for both parties.

Also, you do not have to sign the ticket it really doesnt matter in court. You have the right to refuse its the law at least in Texas. People get in arguments with cops all the time over tickets and he should have blew it off and sent her on her way. She has 11 days to comply and call the court house about the ticket. It is not the cops responsibility to make her pay the ticket or show up in court. A warrant will be issued if not handled by the lady.

Lastly, she is 72 years old, people break the law at all ages, it happens. However, pulling her out of the truck was not needed and even though he did and she resisted lets use a small bit of common sense and courtesy for the elderly and everyone for that matter. The cop could have easily arrested her without the taser, she is 72 and he is a grown ass man. For one it could have killed her easily. Two I am confident a 16 year old boy could detain her without excessive force. It clearly shows excessive force even with her threat to get back in her vehicle. Uncomfortable with the situation??? Call backup. Long rant I know, but I am getting tired of seeing cops abusing their power, its sickening!

Point of my rant...Any adult especially those with proper training can detain a 72 year old lady, spry or not without the use of a taser or even a night club. The cop should be punished and the lady should pay her ticket. Reparations for the excessive force...I think so.

"There is nobody that wanted this to happen any worse that deputy chris" "I know that, he`s been in that chair right over there everyday"

Wait what? he wanted that to happen but your in his defense? Being in a chair does what now? Of course the moron thinks it`s justified rofl.

To ex-officer chris:
Grats bro i`m sure your family is proud of you and you`ll see a lot of hate toward you in this thread...it`s real hate and everybody knows what kind of man you are now. After you pushed her she agreed to sign the ticket...remember?, but you used this "push away from traffic to keep you safe" to escalate the situation. Where you really that surprised at a cuss word....really? Couldn`t you have asked her nicely to get farther away from traffic or does that badge give you the right to just push people and have someone cover your ass later? Imagine I pushed you I would get assault on a police officer....but I was just trying to keep you safe.

Now for all of the officers to protect their frat boy and say that`s procedure...well sirs you are in denial and can go fuck yourself if this is the best procedure you can come up with. "protect and serve"? eh? maybe not...

@ boldfart....i don`t remember the law of being polite to a police officer, it sure helps but it`s not illegal. All being impolite does is make the badge shine brighter...to bright in this case. Beside you have to hear "your under arrest" before you can resist arrest.

^ You don`t have to be polite, but you do have to comply, which she did not.

This is resisting arrest, regardless of her tone or attitude.

That said, he could`ve just cuffed her... I`m sure he wouldn`t have had trouble overpowering a 72 year old woman.

Taser was kind of unnecessary, but easily avoided if she would have not been a stubborn bitch in the first place.

Tasers should only be used when it`s funny.
Zapping an angry 72 year old woman is not funny.

tasers are not non-leath. they are less lethal. there are what, 300 recorded cases of these things killing people? healthy young people. crazy shit, the acceptance of tasers. id rather take a baton to the legs and a knee on my back for 45 seconds then be pulsed with one of these things for the same.

Comply with what? It`s her right to not sign the ticket as she didn`t believe she deserved it. You can use it in court. Besides this is a small traffic violation, she`s not a criminal and shouldn`t be treated like one. The officer asked her to sign and she said no. Then he "opens the driver side door to arrest the grandmother" At this point she has complied with everything untilllll. He pulls open the door makes her get out and then pushes her. I feel like some of you are watching a different video or are just so used to seeing police be unprofessional and aggressive that you can`t see how wrong this is.

^ The signature does not mean that you agree with the officer, just that you promise to appear in court on your court date.

"40302. Whenever any person is arrested for any violation of this code, not declared to be a felony, the arrested person shall be taken without unnecessary delay before a magistrate within the county in which the offense charged is alleged to have been committed and who has jurisdiction of the offense and is nearest or most accessible with reference to the place where the arrest is made in any of the following cases:
(a) When the person arrested fails to present his driver`s license or other satisfactory evidence of his identity for examination.
(b) When the person arrested refuses to give his written promise to appear in court."
