Former L.A. Times journalist William Lobdell recalls reporting on members of a Catholic church who rallied to support a child molesting priest. The incident "shattered" Lobdell's faith, causing him to reconsider his conversion to Catholicism.

The catholic church is a "for-profit", non-profit organization. They paid over $600,000,000 dollars in settlements a couple of years ago.

When people pony up at the collection plate or give charitable contributions to this organization. they`re effectively giving these baby fuckers payoff money.

they were okay with having a child molester priest, but the reporter was scary to them because it was like "oh no, the world will see our sin for accepting this molester".
i mean right, for them to find offense in the reporter means they KNOW the molester is in the wrong..

It`s interesting that people are mostly surprised and shocked with how the religious think and suspend their faculties, it should not surprise anyone. The prime tenant of most if not all religions is to suspend critical thinking and logic. Once you give up your ability to think rationally you can justify and do ANYTHING. I am never surprised by the things I hear about religious people, it`s in perfect step with what they believe and how their minds have been trained. The only cure to this ancient disease is education. I think it is of utmost importance to start teaching critical thinking and logic classes in elementary school and continue all the way into high school. At the very least the kids will be able to see through the lies of salesmen and politicians.

I get very frustrated and angry with people who tell me I shouldn`t blame the "average" religious person, that they`re "good people trying to do the right thing." NO THEY ARE NOT. You will find this behavior in EVERY congregation in EVERY religion the world over. Religious people are hateful, selfish psychotics, and they need to treated as such.
