I can visualise bill living in the jungle, eating bugs and killing capitalist pigs with an AK (don`t automatically make a connection to communism there). But I hope he`s making a difference where he is.

^ bitter? Seems like a message of great hope to me. We can see now, at this stage of history, what is wrong with our most fundamental societal mechanisms. Seeing the problems clearly is the first real step to finding solutions. We can see now that we need to find some more humane and compassionate middle ground, that is not ruled by greed. Because while the enabling, promotion and celebration of greed as the driving force behind our capitalism has done great wonders, it now threatens to destroy more than it can create.

I see it as the difference between a period of history where we had effectively unlimited capacity for expansion (resources, space, energy), to a new phase of society where we are reaching capacity in all but human creativity. In this new place, greed and competition seem to create inhumane social inequality and suffering, instead of positively driving growth and increasing everyone`s wealth. I believe cooperation, generosity, and moderation will inform our future more sensibly than greed can anymore. Trying to out compete each other doesn`t work anymore when so many people lose that it brings down the system. They can`t just go do something else because most of the once open space is tied up, so they drag down the system, stuck in losing positions, with no opportunity to just go do something better.

The thing with Bill Maher is he makes people stop and think. You know what he may not make a big difference in the big scheme of things but at least he is getting the message out and if he can reach enough people willing to listen we might have some change. He is really big here in Canada.

As long as people think that greed is good, same shit will happen. USA has be the reason for many global fianical down turns, is it time people wish up and stop making these greedy fucker rich by demanding standards, rules and better regulations? The republicans always rejects universal healthcare as they think its socialism, you would wonder why the reject something, judging by their records they have some buddies in that business.

You want to put a hole in your head because you don`t like your life so the whole world should bite it? If you watch a video like this and all you can get out of it is a complain about its audio encoding then you are lost. Bill should add cynics and destructive behavior to greed as for what our society should stop allowing. I hope anyone else that gathered some insight and understanding from this video with hopes for a positive future buries you with their vote.

I saw a great doco about the US drug war and prison population called American Drug War: The Last White Hope. It explains the history of the war on drugs, the politican motivations behind it and the ridiculous results. I recommend it.
