i haven`t finished watching this yet, but i`m in the industry, and when i heard `the only real reason we`re still charging people this much for games is because we used to`. i`m sorry, but a little pixolated mario jumping on the screen getting from point A to point B is much Much MUCH easier than it is currently. the groups of people required to produce these games we all love are MUCH higher, the hours put in are MUCH higher, the wages we all make are MUCH high.... i can go on and on with this.

bottom line, it cost more to PRODUCE a game now a days, there for it cost more, it`s that simple. sure, games you download are cheaper, and if your x-box or ps3 allows you to purchas new games online and download them, great, but those are far and few between, and the ones that ARE, like this guy says, are cheaper, great, but they also cost a LOT less to create.

^I`m a programmer and I was in some gaming developing projects.

The only thing that cost a LOT is the graphic engine, original musics and the marketing... the rest can be done easily by 20-30 persons... and all that, it`s a FUCKING JOKE compare to a production in the film industry.

60-70-80-90$ for a game it`s ridiculus...

^^^ Although that is true, it still takes much longer to create a game than it originally did. compare the film industry to this since you bring it up. if you go to a movie, that`s what, $12 depending on where you live. to purchase a dvd or blue ray, that`s around $20 to $30, depending on the movie. there is a LOT more that goes into movies for sure, but the same process does go into a good game. you`re totally right about the games engine, but that can be compared to a fraction the cost that a movie star gets. so we need to ask ourselves, how can a movie be purchased for one third the cost of a game, or seen in the movie theater for a fifth the cost of a game, assume that game cost around $60 (which is about average) THAT confuses me.

When I bought L4D when it came out I felt like I`ve been ripped off by the very small content of the game. It`s a good game, but what the hell, four 1 hour levels for 50 bucks, seriously? Of course there`s replay value but you can`t charge someone for replay value. I`ve immediately told my friends to not buy the game until they lower the price because it is just not worth it. And I`m pretty sure that many people just did that and this is why their sales shot up after they lowered the price.
