Granted, Evangelical christians literally believe the bible as it`s written but seriously people can`t see the poetry in that passage? Casting out devils and surviving the venomous poison of snakes. It`s very clearly established in the bible that snakes represent the devil/lying/cheating and what not. So it stands to reason that their venom is the essence of those evil deeds.

Basically, the bible is saying those who believe in the word of Jesus which basically is "be a good person" will be immune from having lying cheating and stealing infect their lives.

I`m not a Christian or anything really but I think the Bible has some good wisdom in there. It` just hard to get past the he begat this and he begat that stuff lol
