I`d hardly say that question stumped the scientist. It`s more a case of someone asking a question with a vast and complicated answer with little insight as to what that answer might entail. Try asking a physicist to explain, in under 30 seconds how the earth was formed and you`ll get the same awkward it`s-not-that-simle response.
