Serious props to that guy. They really tried to intimidate him into incriminating himself. I think most of us would have broken before that.

It`d really be something if more of us did this and stood up to cops. It`s just as bad up here in Canada and if more of us did this maybe cops would start treating us with the rights we`re supposed to have.

This guy is a whining fucker... He may not be hiding something but seriously, why do this? To stand up to a higher authority? I don`t really know how border security works over there but he doesn`t say anything except for let me know when I`m free to go... Also a bit of mumbo jumbo about his legal rights... He could be hiding anything in the car... For that reason, he could be pulled over and he argues with them and he doesn`t even let them ask questions.... That sounds suspicious to me.

Why is there a checkpoint when a normal person will argue the point of getting searched?

^" why do this? "

Because he does it for his website and because its within his rights to do it.

"he doesn`t say anything except for let me know when I`m free to go"

Because he is not required to answer or talk to the police without cause. Saying anything but this could get hem in legal trouble after the event.

"He could be hiding anything in the car... For that reason, he could be pulled over and he argues with them and he doesn`t even let them ask questions"

I guess you don`t know your rights or your not American. You can not pull over and search someone without cause. They can not search his car without a warrant or at the very least probable cause. Probable cause would be if they saw something in his car or smelled something. This is the reason he did not open his window. Cops love to lie and say they smelled pot in the car.

"get this idea from checkpointusa.org" haha thanks cop didn`t know about that site until now :)

domestic terrorists ?They are doing there jobs thats what you pay them to do with Taxes
Ok i will say something when a Police department guy abuse this power on 1 person because that will only effect 1 person and its small scale but this is larger and could effect alot of people If he was beating this guy with a club ok yeah abuse of power but all they want to do is search his car
Dude He could be Osama Bin laden with his beard shaved trying to smuggle a nuke or chemical bomb to another city that is what the Border patrol is for Keep out and control
Terrorists
DrugDealers
Gun Runners
and
2.They have every right you check you if your acting weaird at the checkpoint called ProB cause just like LAPD HPD NYPD or any otehr police department
Yeah he acting like a ass towards them now but bet this dude will also be bitch about border patrol not doing there jobs when a terrorist attack because they did not search the terrorists car they should have arrested this ahole for not allowing goverment officials to do there jobs
3. If they have his name and plates they dont need anything on this guy they can pull up his life history in 2 sec on a Pc and they can also arrest him ticket him anytime
10/10 for professionalism of porder patrol

^ he has done this a few times by the looks of his website. The border patrol have beat and tazed hem. They got away with this because they said the k9 alerted them of drunks of coarse this was a lie.

What is illegal about acting weird? That is not probable cause. If i was you i would look into what rights you really have.

They didn`t have his name and only had his plates. He is not required to give his name without probable cause witch they did not have or even made up.

Lastly you`re brain washed scared little kid. There is no way border patrol would save us if someone wanted to bring a nuke over. Heck all you have to do is drive the back roads in from mexico with all the illegals, Or better yet come in from canada where there are no check points in some location.

Check points like this are made to have the appearance of power. All the really do is harass and arrest people that didn`t pay there parking tickets.

-sigh-

One thing that he constantly kept saying (which is idiotic and untrue) is that they need a warrant to search his car.

If this were the case, cops would never be able to search a person`s car. All cops need is "probable cause" which is admittedly quite vague and open to interpretation.

One can argue about the "justness" of the law, but what they wanted to do was definitely within their authority. The fact of the matter, is that he had the camera rolling already (with the obvious intent to get into a confrontation) and likely did something to make them suspicious. In this case, probably by being highly confrontational. They thought, this guy is being confrontational, I bet he`s hiding something.

On the flipside, some of those agents were obviously lacking in knowledge and understanding of the law. "You have no rights at a checkpoint." Idiotic. The last agent he spoke to had a much clearer head and didn`t let the guys prodding irritate him and provoke a reaction though, so kudos to him.

I don`t know where I stand on the issue exactly, but I don`t care for the way this guy did this. Question to everyone here: Do officers of the law have the authority to search your vehicle? Ever? If so, under what circumstances?
