Awesome. But that`s the horror of fighting someone who uses capoeira - you never know where the next hit is coming from.

You can see the other fighter drops his guard after the first kick, thinking he has a chance to counter-attack before his opponent regains his balance, and then pow. Lights out.

Edit: Just thought of something.
It would be interesting to see this against a regular boxer. Most Pride/K-1 matches I see with a boxer involve him forfeiting because his legs can`t take the punishment. But boxers lives revolve around having their brains routinely mashed - would such a strike be enough to take down a boxer, I wonder? And an agressive boxer who closes quickly wouldn`t give the capoeira guy the room to move they need to strike.

that boxer had the reflexes of a 4 year old.
a quick duck and a kick to the bum would`ve sent him sprawling.
when he fights the real fighters, we`ll see...

This fight card was put on by Mike Hammoud in North Vancouver, British Columbia

There are a bunch of other ones out there with wicked knockouts

^^Agreed, this would not work against an experienced opponent. The problem with Capoeira is that it requires alot of free space to move around, the MMA guy should`ve went in for the take down. What I do like about Capoeira is how unpredictable it is, and how easy it is to switch to different strikes. One another note I would love to see a Capoeira master go against someone of Brock Lesnar size or Fedor.

Has this one guy never been in a fight? The chances of him hitting that kick are practically zero unless your standing perfectly still with your guard down...something people shouldn`t be doing in a fight.

^even then, like Neferati said the best counter against Capoeira is a quick takedown. An experienced fighter would`ve studied the opponents fighting style before the match. This one didn`t do his homework and paid for it.

Capoeira was created by slaves in Brazil, they wanted to be ready to fight their oppressors at any time so they invented a fighting style that could be practised in the open but would be viewed as a dance. Drunken style kung fu is based on the same deception, look drunk and get your opponents guard down. The people above me are right in saying that it wouldn`t work in an MMA situation (well at least against someone decent) however I would venture to say that it`s probably one of the best martial arts to use for self defence because your opponent will be unaware. This video is a perfect demonstration.

edit: jhvh1134 is on the same track as me, just a more experienced and well spoked track ;)

Capoeira is useless in real fights. While your trying to spin around and jump they are just going to take you down and beat your ass.

After watching this on you tube I had to study up. My conclusion was that you can`t(or shouldn`t) soley rely on Capoeira, or any single fighting style to win a fight. You need to be able to adapt the best counters/techniques from all martial arts to be well versed and able to handle your shit in any situation.
