His last comment strikes me the most, even beyond the argument about religion, is the human race not capable of more? Are we not capable of overcoming our indifferences? Are we not capable of sustaining ourselves on this planet and exploring the universe? We could do so much more if we could just stop being so childish in so many ways.

Very true Darkelfdrake. its sad that what should be considered the most important government run group, NASA, is getting a pathetic 17 billion for its budget this year. in the end, the cause of most of the suffering and injustice in this world is money. the phrase "money is the root of all evil" is more accurate then most know. Everyone goes on and on about how we have an energy crisis, there`s no damn energy crisis. even with current technology we could provide power to every person on the planet with a combination of solar, hydroelectric and wind. The real hot stuff is geothermal, though. there is literally more energy then we could use, and its reliable, and constant. all we need is the money. we have just spent more money bailing out a few banks then we did on all of WWII. i`m sure we could have solved a couple ACTUAL crisis if that money had been put elsewhere. but we no longer live in a world with limited resources, there is enough for everyone, and we have the technology today to get it. there really isnt a need for money any more, at all.
