You will go insane thinking of this stuff. I tried to explain to my friend that we all have different perceptions of what reality is. Reality is built on what we experience. Since our experiences are different on so many levels our reality has to be different.

Make sense? He didn`t get it. It boiled down to a debate on what reality is and defined as. Then we got drunk and forgot about it.

I recentley started a quantum physics class at my uni for my nanotechnology course, and its the most interesting class I`ve had. The fact that there is no answer makes it 10000x more interesting than anything else you could study.

Anyways, those interested in this sort of topic should check out continental philosophy and within that branch phenomenology and existentialism.

Author/philosopher`s include Immanuel Kant, Martin Heidegger, Jean-Paul Sartre, Emmanuel Levinas, Simone de Beauvoir, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, Friedrich Nietzsche.

Waw, breathtaking. That is if I didn`t discover this already years ago. Some of the people who are shown in this movie aren`t really qualified to talk about quantum physics or science in general (i.e. conspiracy morons who smoke too much weed and this they have it all figured out). The only distinguishable figures I saw were Robert Anton Wilson and of course Bill Hicks, the rest were quacks.

Although i am very open minded, much like another vid posted on SH, this theory implies that since there is no real perception with the brain the the "outside world" and that everything is not real because we see thru our eyes. But i feel thats just basing thier theory on a technicality.

I used be a strong believer in Quantum Mechanics cuz it made sense to me with probablity and Time travel theorys, but then it didnt seem to coincide with worm whole theorys. Quantum mechanics is still awsome though.

BTW.. Ziggy says you cant leap until she loves you back.

This video was posted a few months back. This is utter b.s. Nothing they say is provable and much of what they claim is scientific fact is worded disingenuously. There are many theories out there that pertain to quantum mechanics that cannot be tested- such as the measurement problem mentioned a few minutes in. It is NOT necessary to have consciousness to measure the position of an atom. The fact that physicists use the word "observe" doesn`t mean a mechanical instrument can`t serve as the observer.
And if anyone cannot believe that consciousness could come from a lump of well ordered material- just look at statistical/thermal dynamics. In large material (with some 10^23 amount of atoms), material stops behaving as if it was made out of single atoms. It starts to have "emergent" properties- like temperature and entropy. These emergent properties exist only because there are many many atoms that make it up. The idea that consciousness is an emergent property of the brain is not that unreasonable or unimaginable.

How is what they say disingenuous? I`m in full agreement that the mind is incapable of grasping the true nature of reality. The mind is supposed to only be able to comprehend through concepts and entities, which are fixed. Accordingly, the ever-changing nature of reality cannot be comprehended by it.

Now, consciousness, on the other hand, which may be loosely said to be observance without mental commentary or activity, might enable knowing of reality in a much more concrete manner. But that still is debatable, it could be contended that even apparent neutral observance without mental activity can only be performed through the mind, where the mind is assumed to be a subjective instrument of perception.

In other words: HOW CAN WE PERCEIVE OBJECTIVELY WHEN EVERYTHING WE PERCEIVE IS GOVERNED BY THE PERCEIVING INSTRUMENT AND HENCE INFLUENCED BY IT?

Please, If you think what they are saying is disingenuous or a bunch of bs, please give me an answer to the above question.

this whole reality thing has been on my mind recently.. but then i realised that we can never prove anything. who is to say when we eventually find this "reality" that it will truly be real aswell?

Even though some theories and ways of thinking that resemble the things covered in this video are interesting scientific theories, this video itself is pseudo-science. It`s riddled with pulling cool-sounding-things from physics and pull them out of context in a very anthropocentric way.
