"No one would decide that the ocean was without fish on the basis of one glass of water."
Unfortunately that`s how mainstream society acts. Too often we just look at the surface then make a declaration without any further information or investigation.

Seems like there are more important things to worry about.

^If human history had always advanced towards breakthroughs by first making sure that "there weren`t more important things to worry about" potential would never be realized, breakthroughs would never be made. We have the opportunity, the ability, and if we need more we have the power to work toward it. It isn`t a question of when we should start, it`s a question of how long it will take.

What she is saying is interesting, but she is kind of a smug bitch for acting so pompous about the importance of her research while a huge percentage of earth`s population is still in poverty.

Its funny how these so called "intelligent" people do not question NASA`s or the government of the USA`s integrity. They simply just go along with the official word.We live in a world where the news and media is obviously censored and controlled to push certain agendas and yet these "intellectuals" somehow do not see anything wrong.

^ The world isn`t just NASA or the US government. The freedom of the internet and a scientific community mostly unaffected by national and cultural borders means something like SETI is relatively unfettered by the integrity of one particular country. What exactly do you believe it is that they are taking for granted? What is this `official word` that you pull out of the blue?
