Well, a taser is still safer then a gun. Even if it does have a chance of killing a highly agitated person, it is less likely to kill someone then a gun.

The thing they have to start understanding is that you can`t just whip the taser out whenever things are going rough for you. But it is still the best last result. Way way way better then pulling out your side shooter and actually trying to kill someone.

Sir spanks-a-lot: Sorry...but it`s completely ridiculous to accuse a country of being communist because they use tasers. Yeah, tasers *can* kill and officers certainly need to be more discreet in their decisions to use a taser, but does that mean they should NEVER be used? I mean, fer fuksakes, you bleeding hearts won`t let us shoot them, or taze them, or even knock them over the head with a billy club. How are they supposed to subdue dangerous suspects?

Now, I`m not saying this guy was dangerous. To me, it seems a pretty clear case that they didn`t need to tazer the guy. But, in general, tasers are a lot better than just shooting people. I`ll let the courts decide if this was a result of training practices ("the system") or if the individual officer went beyond protocol...I don`t know enough about the case to say either way.

A guy where I live was killed by a taser a few years ago. He was hyped up on a nearly lethal dose of cocaine and was still brandishing a weapon after an armed robbery. I`ll tell you what, no loss to society on that one!!!

Funny how the only specific thing he said was "I do not believe Tasers Kill" yet the headline and theme is "Tasers Kill".

tasers should not be issued without thorough training and clear rules when to use them... those things are weapons after all (lethal or not)
