Wow I thought there would be much more damage from a nuclear explosion, I mean that is alot but still the image I had was like the whole island would be completely demolished.

^^ It was only a 150 Kiloton bomb. Thats reletivly weak compared to what can be made.

The Russian Tsar bomb is the biggest nuclear bomb ever made at 50 Megatons. Thats so much more its mind boggling, NC would be absolutly decimated. Probably in the range of 9-18 million deaths

Keep in mind also, its a trend now to manufacture nuclear missles to carry multiple warheads. So in all likelyhood, a modern nuclear attack by any armed country (well, most) would result in probably about 3-5 explosions in close vacinity from a single missle.

150 Kiloton is very weak.. that is classified as tactical nuke.. or an really old nuke.. moust nukes are around 1000 kiloton

in the event of nuclear war: get your ass to canada. make yourself a nice little cabin in the middle of no where. live out the rest of you natural life with the animals. im pretty sure we have lots of hiding space up here.

150 kt is a cherry bomb. equvalent to 150,000 tons of tnt.
a modern "first strike" weapon would be over 30megatons
30,000,000 tons of tnt.
but I`m certain far far more powerfull devices exist :)

Maybe it`s just me...but it seems like having over 5000 nukes is completely pointless. But I guess it`s just in case they have to nuke...EVERYONE. Always gotta plan ahead!

Maybe they have a massive failure rate like my xbox 360 (4 rrods for christ sake)

i think it`s because since it was a race to see who had more than the other, some missiles are reserved for taking out the other side`s missiles, so as the other side makes more, you need to make more too.

I wonder how long a nuke`s shelf life is? I`m assuming since they are nuclear they have to be checked thoroughly and frequently. Maybe even rebuilt from time to time to be kept current and safe for handlers.

Nuclear weapons are fucking scary. What Kokujin said made them even scarier. It doesn`t seem right for any country to have them considering how dangerously powerful they are. Let alone close to 6k of them!
