VW actually lost a ton of money making the Veyron, but they knew they would. They didn`t make it for profit, they essentially made it just to say "Neener, neener, neener, we made the best production car ever."

^It already proved its point. It`s been 4 years since it was introduced. Of course it`s not going to be the fastest car forever. But 4 years later it is still the fastest accelerating and decelerating production car.
