Hi geoblaze, this was awesome. Check out my blog on this issue:

http://exploderator.blogspot.com/

It`s in its infancy, but I think my two posts there have some uncommon substance from what I am hearing in this debate, and address some of the deeper issues at hand with this whole topic, given the reality of what C-61 is and why it was ever introduced at all.

I am glad Angus is headed in the right direction on this whole copyright issue, and can`t possibly agree more that the biggest shame is the years of setback this is going to cause. I also thought that was one of the most interesting implicit points he made. That essentially C-61 is as good as gone, and that it`s so bad and so skewed that it has caused years of setback.

That`s something I really hadn`t thought of in quite that way. I have been more thinking that the heat is on, and the first salvo of the attack has been such a pernicious attack on Canadians, that we will fail to ask any deeper and more important fundamental questions. Rather I fear that we could end up settling with some simple bill that takes away all our rights but at least doesn`t have $20000 fines. Which would be a huge tradgedy.

So I have to say that Angus` apparent confidence that C-61 is DOA is a bit relieving, but I really hope that it means that the freshly woken Canadian public can really get it together and get something good done. We actually have a rare chance to set a strong example of fairness and justice for the world on this one.
