heres my thoughts on this, seeing as how I`m stoned this might be alright.
Okay so I get the being possessed thing, how I see it is like this, maybe they have a hard time letting go of for forgiving something they`ve done/seen/felt. So it drives them a little bonkers, because maybe they don`t really have that much to do or think about so they dwell on what ever happened and they go crazy or start acting all fucked up ya know?
So they take them somewhere where a few of people can talk about and give direction to the person towards letting go or being free of your burden?
So when you`re in that little crazy room you are suppose to just be free and act all crazy like that, ya know? Letting go of whatever, so they smash that nut. I saw that as, even though your cold and tough, good is inside everything. It`s hard to let the good inside out when you`re hard as stone, so it might be hard to crack your surface but with help, the good inside us all will show.

Different take: I`ll choose exorcisms any day if it gives adolescent girls in society the drama and heightened sense of self-importance they need to move past their teenage tragedy.

If it`s a choice between a Dr. Phil show and an exorcism, my money is on the supernatural for addressing adolescents` emotional problems. At least the exorcists don`t have a financial interest in keeping the teen messed up and craving the public spotlight.

Dr. Phil and other shows only teach kids to focus more on themselves and to use psychology terms (thereby confusing real medical terms for the layman parents) to keep adults concerned and locked into their drama by rewarding them with 15 min. fame. Which makes pop culture just that much more annoying, and does nothing to further the study of psychology.

So, daytime talk shows focusing on teenage problems are less interesting and less effective than exorcisms. At least we could learn some new songs and new dance moves by watching exorcisms.

Because science is about proof and making stopping the assumption that things we don`t fully understand is a demon/ god/ fairy/ spirits.

I would rather know that it is a virus, a chemical imbalance or trauma.
