Ah yes, polished footage of American tax dollars working to promote U.S. interests in the Middle East circa late 70`s and all of Reagan`s terms. The training we gave to those Mujahideen to fight the Soviets is well-chronicled in the attacks on the World Trade Center, some years later.

For some reason, it never occurred to Reagan that once the Soviets were out of the way, those we financed and trained in counterintelligence would turn their attention to us. And it never occurred to Bush that maybe he should have listened to the terrorism czar who had actually been around for this training, in Richard Alan Clarke. I guess Bush & Co. thought he was just horsing around.

Oh, and before someone predictably trots out the USS Cole bombing, that was not certified by the CIA as directly linked to Osama bin Laden until AFTER Bushies took office.

This is a Russian movie about a Russian invasion [against an enemy that is trained and financed by the United States government. The same enemy that later turned its attention back to the US].

You forgot that part. Connect the dots, history may be more interesting then.

Pretty simplified and Bias look (at repubilicans no less)

First, while they were financed with us, they didnt just decide to "turn their attention towards us". Osama issued his Holy war on the US after we went into Saudi Arabia after Iraq invaded Kuwait.

Also, by this time, all the money and weapons the US had given them had run dry. I remember everyone talking about the Stinger Missles that were going to give the US trouble. Only the talking heads didnt realize it was battery powered and after a few shots, it needed a new one...which they did not have rendering the weapon useless.

Funny too how you should mention both Bush and Reagan, yet make no mention of Clinton. It was during his time that Al-Qaieda was on the back burner and had free range. Hell, they carried out attacks many many times without much retalliation against them. Hell, it was during his time that the whole 9/11 plot was conceived.

"Also, by this time, all the money and weapons the US had given them had run dry. I remember everyone talking about the Stinger Missles that were going to give the US trouble."

As I remember, 9/11 was executed without the use of high-tech weaponry at all.

"Funny too how you should mention both Bush and Reagan, yet make no mention of Clinton. It was during his time that Al-Qaieda was on the back burner and had free range."

Repeat after me. There is no "al Qaeda." This was a name never used by Osama bin Laden before the politicians in Washington invented it. Oh, and the deprioritizing of terrorism can be DIRECTLY attributed to Republicans` drowning out ALL policy matters in favor of making the public discourse All Monica Lewinsky, all the time. They decided for this country that an impeachment over a blowjob that some chubby-chaser lied about was more important than discussing the developing terrorist threat.

When Clinton DID make a SINGLE failed attempt to kill Osama bin Laden, Republicans accused him of trying to distract attention from their worshipful impeachment investigation (funded by you and me). They said it was just like the movie "Wag the Dog," over and over again. It seems your backburner argument burns you back.

Oh, and if you want to score points about oversimplifying, BY ALL MEANS, lobby your Republican masters to have an informative discussion about terrorism. If you REALLY want to have an honest discussion about the role of the U.S. in the Middle East, then I think their reaction will surprise you. But I don`t believe you want that, you just want to accuse me of what your own gods -- I mean political leaders, are guilty of doing to the debate much more than I ever could. On the heels of Memorial Day, it`s shameful that you would side with them and not the soldiers who are paying the greatest price these days for neocon miscalculations past & present.

"As I remember, 9/11 was executed without the use of high-tech weaponry at all."

It wasnt planned overnight.

"Repeat after me. There is no "al Qaeda." This was a name never used by Osama bin Laden before the politicians in Washington invented it."

A moot point. Fine, lets not call it Al-Qaeda, lets call it a group of people that kill civilians for political gain. Does that work better for you? Wether Bin Laden made the name or not doesnt change what exactly the group does.

"Oh, and the deprioritizing of terrorism can be DIRECTLY attributed to Republicans` drowning out ALL policy matters in favor of making the public discourse All Monica Lewinsky, all the time. So whats it matter if the republicans were not on board? Is it their fault clinton was afriad of what would be said about him? Does it matter if the republicans said he was trying to take away from the Lewinski scandal? Hell, thats just polictics and it happens all the time. A good leader would just push through and not worry about what others say.

I`m not a republican. I dont identify by either party. Because of that I am not blind into thinking one party good, other party bad. Thats why I was pointing somethings out that you appeared to be one sided towards.

"A moot point. Fine, lets not call it Al-Qaeda, lets call it a group of people that kill civilians for political gain."

That could describe anyone involved in hatching this Iraq invasion. The POINT is that under the label of "al Qaeda" Americans have been told endless lies about the scope and capability of that organization, which was non-existent until after the neocons created support in that region of the world for such anti-U.S. movements.

There is no way to understate the mountain of lies about underground hi-tech bases, widespread support across the Muslim world, and the trillions of dollars in military contracts justified by battling this fictitious organization ("fight them ova there, baby"). It has been the biggest military buildup in our nation`s history when there is no threat. Therefore, the quickest way to call attention to this clusterfuck of profitable lies perpetrated by elitist politicians is to totally invalidate the very NAME of the enemy they are supposed to be more focused on than anyone else in the world. Seeing as how they made up the threat, of course they know the most about it.

"So whats it matter if the republicans were not on board?"

It matters because you YOURSELF stated that not focusing on the terrorist threat in the last years of Clinton`s presidency directly resulted in Osama bin Laden`s ability to finance, plan, train, and execute the 9/11 attacks. This was a continuous effort starting before the impeachment. Bush`s 8 months in office were merely an extension of Republicans being asleep at the wheel regarding terrorism for years.

"A good leader would just push through and not worry about what others say."

Clinton could not "push through," remember? He had to contend with R-majorities in both houses. Their focus was completely on political gain, as evidenced by the unprecedented budget & power Ken Starr was alotted to fail at pursuing the Clintons` whitewater scandal. Also, all the subpoenas that Clinton was forced to respond to directly drained his time. How many subpoenas has your lovechild, Dubya complied with?

"Hell, thats just polictics and it happens all the time."

Fine. Just tell the public and 9/11 victims` families that the terror plot was not prevented because of hardball politics. While you`re at it, tell the veterans` families that politics was the reason that well known crooks and liars were allowed to exaggerate the "al Qaeda" threat in the wake of a PREVENTABLE national disaster. You declare that at the top of your lungs, and I`ll STFU.

"I`m not a republican"

No one ADMITS to being a Republican. The moot point is you stating your political affiliation. It`s the internet, buddy. Anonymity. You will be judged by your works. And if those works include defending lies, liars, and war criminals, then you deserve to be named by your decisions and words. Desperate times, my man. You`re either with the people or against us -- no time for ambivalence.
