NYC Ghost Investigators Just A Call Away

NEW YORK - Something strange going on in your neighborhood? You may want to give Brooklyn Ghost Investigations a call. For $20 an hour, the group of self-proclaimed paranormal investigators offers to go to your house to help chase away whatever goes bump in the night.

"When I was 10 years old, I started to see things — spirits and ghosts," said Sal Cicconi, 27, who formed the group with two other Brooklynites.

The group, which claims to have honed its spooky craft by watching such TV shows as "Ghost Hunters" and "Paranormal State," has one client: a man who said he saw two apparitions in his apartment.

Cicconi and another member of the group, Sergio Ocasio, 20, went to the man's house and waited until 3 a.m. to catch a glimpse of the ghosts.

"I caught something on tape," Cicconi said. "It looked like two lights moving around, like the spirits were playing with each other."

He said they used a homemade Ouija board — often used in seances to supposedly talk to the dead (or undead) — to coax the bogeymen to leave. But it didn't work.

"Sometimes, spirits are afraid to talk or to show themselves to us," Cicconi explained.

How can you be amazed that people believe this bullshit when the this story is being distributed by an allegedly legitimate news outlet? Yeah, the source is the tabloidish New York Daily News...but then it`s picked up by Yahoo and other distributers who put it right into the hard news section.

There is absolutely no sketicism in the story...no rebuttal to the existence of ghosts or the real need for such a service. In fact, it is treated as perfectly legitimate.

No, I don`t wonder at all why the general public is so fucking stupid.

Articles like these are meant to be objective. After all, they`re news, not opinion. This article is clear that ghost investigation is nonsense.

EckJerome: "In fact, it is treated as perfectly legitimate."
Well, no. There is plenty of "sketicism" [sic] in the story, if you`re willing to look for it. For example, notice the choice of words: "self-proclaimed," "spooky craft," "bump in the night," "supposedly," etc. The article points out that their equipment is homemade and they`re self-taught, using TV shows, and that they`ve only had one client.

So the writer of the article knew the topic was bullshit, and presented the facts. It`s too bad we can`t all be objective.

hexish, that`s your problem--thinking that articles about ghost investigators can be objective!! How can you be objective about bullshit??? This is exactly what I mean...the news media is full of complete and total bullshit presented in an "objective" manner. That alone legitimizes the bullshit!

You don`t get it. The story should not even be on Yahoo, PERIOD. Printed in the New York Daily News, yeah, everyone knows it`s tabloid journalism...but reprinted in the hard news section of Yahoo? THAT`S BULLSHIT!!

No Eck. It`s up to YOU the READER to be able to distinguish bullshit from dog shit.

They probably had a slow news day and decided to print something fucktarded to see what sort of responses it would get.

Are you fucktarded? Most likely not. But you attack this with such venom that you may seem like a nutjob of another squirrel.

Most sane and logical folks will just laugh and move on (mostly because this will be under "Oddly Enough"). Fools will buy into it and call then Ghostnutters up. "HALP! I`s gots a ghosts in mai house!".
