... spider`s silk is one of the strongest things there is(in the same way that ants are strong as hell), this is not surprising at all, only thing that would have been surprising would be if the spider had tried diligently to set the thing free.

i thought they were going to engineer goats that produce spider silk proteins in their milk and try to make it into bullet proof vests stronger than kevlar, i read about this in popular mechanics or popular science like 8 years ago, i wonder how it`s coming along

^^ they did genetically modify the goats to produce the proteins in the fibers, but when they were produced they were far in-superior to the spider`s. they are now genetically modifying bacteria to produce the proteins more like the spiders do.

It`s called BioSteel. They got the spider`s web-spinning genes and put it into the mammary glands of the goat and the goat produced this string that is stronger than steel, yet more flexible than nylon. And yes what Taylornator is also true.
