One of my teachers went to india and told me you have to carefully watch the person prepare your food because if it touches anything its not supposed to you could end up getting really sick cuz lots of places cant afford to sanitize thier workstations

just a word of warning for anyone interested in going there

Curry is more traditional, served at home, but you can`t win over tourists with only spicy food. And yes, Desi food is good.

Love asian food. Indian is right up there at the top. If you`re lucky enough to go to asia or have someone from asia come here and make the real stuff for you, then the americanized versions of all the exotic cuisines suddenly seem weak. But I`d say Indian here in the states is the one of the least neutered cuisines, whereas original cuisines like thai and chinese are harder to find unadulterated. But again if you`re lucky, some american restaurants will prepare the "real" versions of unauthentic adaptations on their menu, upon request. All the common dishes you`ll see on a thai menu here are based on actual dishes, only are usually drowned in sauce and sugar, which most americans will be pleased with, hence their being prepared that way.
