Turok is a bamf with a knife, a bow and some cray ass nuke gun that you have to swim in lava to get.

Actually I did play the original Turok for N64. I mostly used the automatic shotgun for small foes and tek arrows for the stronger ones. I never got to the end, or probably even halfway through, but I did get far enough to know that the knife becomes obsolete pretty early in the game. Unless ammo gets more scarce in the second half, using the knife is generally a bad idea.
