The fines weren't high enough was the problem. It's the same way it's cheaper to take the FDA fine for polluting than to upgrade a factory.

Also I looked on wiki assmaster and I can't find anything about it, however something interesting. The war started after Texas succeeded when they opened immigration to US citizens and got flooded. So basicly they're using the same tactics on us now.

man i hate that guy. the way he's presenting this whole issue is just so retarded.

this animation, narrated and i assume scripted by glenn beck, neglects to mention that the mexican-american war that began in 1864 centered around the secession of texas from mexico. i don't remember my american history too well, but this is how i remember it. after mexico's independence from spain, they invited a limited amount of immigrants from america into texas in order to increase the population. but instead, a lot of americans came, isn't that a bit ironic? the american made up the majority of the population and declared independence as the Republic of Texas, that's why it's known as the Lone Star State now, i think. Years later, texas was annexed by the US and war began between the US and Mexico. in the end the US was "given" a whole bunch of land, practically almost half of mexico, which includes what's now california, nevada, new mexico, and some other areas.

there's more irony to the story. one issue that the american settlers brought up as a reason to secede was slavery. slavery was banned by the mexican government, but the americans were slaveowners. another thing was the ppl who wanted to go to war with mexico were the democrats, back then they were mostly southerners, and slave owners. and the republicans were the ones who were against slavery. pretty weird eh?

this was also another aspect of american imperialism. in the 1800's there was this philosphy called manifest destiny, where americans believed they had an almost god given right to expand to the west, and they used this to justify taking land from mexico. i think it also gave them reason to meddle in the affairs of south and central america, and that sort of sentiment is reflected by the american government's involvement with the formation of the taliban and many of the terrorists and tyrrants that still exist today.

no one can really say if such organizations and dictators would be there even without american involvement, but it is a fact that our governemtn throughout history has put thugs and religious fanatics into power, or supplied them with money and weapons, and it all comes back to bite us in the ass.

i went really off topic, but i just wnated to point out that glenn beck left out a lot of things, he oversimplifies into black and white, either/or, and most of all, he's a creepy pervert who says retarded things and is a big giant turd. i hate his eyebrows. they way they move, it's like they want to jump out of the screen and rape you. i hope his eyebrows burn in hell.

again, illegal immigration really is an important issue to the US, or any country in the world, but this guy is another example of people who twist the truth, says half truths, and is really a racist. did you see how he emphasized "wetbacks," like he really enjoyed saying it on tv.

Keywords being "Native american" while myself being Europeon of ancestory, I acknowledge this land being owned by Native Americans (Indians).. That doesnt mean "native mexican"..

samxli - for it to be illegal for Europeans to settle in the Americas, the indians would have had to have "laws" that made it so. Since no indian tribe had an awareness of such a possibility, none had any rules on the subject.

Well, Illegal immigration is called the Silent Invasion.
Native Americans were overthrown during an Invasion.
Mexicans gave up their land in exchange for money.

Illegal immigration is really the cause for a lot of racism, hate and Prejudice.
Which is why Illegal Immigration is Illegal in the First place.
It is uncontrolled and floods the already full market with new workers .
LEGAL immigration on the other hand, is controlled and when a country needs Workers they Give access for people to immigrate so that they can flood the market and help the economy.

In Malaysia I heard they found a way of stemming illegal immigration which actually works : Torture & repatriation.

Very harsh, but it unfortunately works better than any other method.
