Just because I know it will piss the Jujitsu fanboys off: Gracie and all his family are feeble. Every 'fight' I have seen them win is always the same: They run in on the guy's legs and hug the guy in some hold for 20 minutes until their opponent can't stand the stink and gives up. Anyone who has watched the old UFC knows this. They aren't real fighters, because in the real world you can't just grapple someone into a puppet lock for 20 minutes on the ground. These guys would get the absolute shit kicked out of them if they tried that fondling technique on anyone on the street.

You get into a fight with a skilled grappler and if at ANY point he gets you on the ground, its game over.

And what is going to prevent you from grappling with someone in real life? Just because every jackass you know doesn't know how to REALLY fight, don't think that someone with training (any of the Gracie's) couldn't wtf pwn you and all your little buddies.

I have been training a few years and it still makes me angry when some asshole talk about something like grappling when all he has ever seen of it is on the internet or is some MMA match. The leverage you learn with proper technique is insane.

That would be a problem if your assailant has around a few feet of distance, and a gun.

Of course, if someone want to threaten you with a gun, he will have to keep distance from you in the first place.

The flaw with grappling is that you'll have to get close first.
