A 34-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly faking a hijacking in a bid to get more gambling money from his wife, North Rand police said today.
Police spokesperson Captain Jethro Mtshali said the man called his wife, telling her he had been hijacked, and that R5 000 was needed for his release.
She called the police and his vehicle tracking company, and his Toyota Conquest was found parked outside a casino.
He admitted that he faked the hijack, saying he only wanted money to gamble.
