people who love ron paul all seem complete morons. no one seems to understand that ron paul basically wishes to abolish government.

guess what that means, that's right, no net neutrality, no stem cell research, and a completely devastated social security system

hell we might as well go back to the times of the industrial revolution!

don't get me wrong, ron paul definitely has some good solutions for the problems of our nation, but it's the equivalent of using a grenade to unclog the kitchen sink

Post your Comments, please ask yourself what the REAL purpose of goverment is. If you agree that social security is within the government's authority to control then you obviously agree with taxation, a.k.a. the government telling you how and when to use the money that you worked for. The government DOES have certain authorities, but none of what you mentioned fits within that category. Ron Paul doesn't want anarchy, he was constitutional government...and to get rid of the Federal Reserve....which basically plays puppetmaster to the American economy. Lassez-faire, goddamit! GIVE IT TO US!

anyone who took econ 101 knows laissez-faire capitalism was an inherently flawed school of thought. there is a reason not a single first-world nation is based on a laissez-faire economy.

laissez-faire gave us children working in coal mines because families didn't have enough money to send them to school. laissez-faire gave us union busters that basically eliminated workers rights. that dreaded government 'intervention' gave us OSHA and the FDA. indeed work related accidents plummeted and people were no longer being poisoned by foods laden with toxins because companies decided to go with the cheaper ingredients.

i do believe taxation is absolutely necessary for a capitalist society. it narrows the wealth disparity between the very rich and the very poor. "Our" money gives rise to a whole slew of amazing programs that normal citizens would just never bother to invest in. you've probably passed by dozens if not hundreds of homeless people in your life. how many of those homeless did you give money to? Frankly, and even I'm quite guilty of this, we're just too busy and self-centered to care too much about other people in need. Not that many people donate to cancer societies unless they personally know someone with cancer. Government funding is quite necessary for medical and biotech advancements, not to mention a whole range of other technological innovations. Whilst I agree that the government could be doing a much better job using the money (2,000$ toilet seats is ridiculous), what Ron Paul is asking for is to shoot to the horse rather than find a doctor.

cockasian, i am assuming you come from a relatively well off family as you probably have never been given federal grants or student loans for college, but i can assure you, a wide majority of people are not quite as lucky. education is a right everyone should have, unfortunately that right costs quite a bit of money.

^^you are right about taxation being a necessity but ron paul wants to abolish the federal income tax which is technically illegal there is no law stating we have to pay it another thing is people think that when they pay there federal taxes that money goes to education and government programs when in reality it simply goes to pay off the national debt.

I disagree with ron paul on many issues but sadly hes the only canidate who actually has somewhat of a plan for this country instead of simply relying on the whole "If you vote for me Ill protect You from the big bad terrorist" mumbo jumbo.

he pretty much says 9/11 and looks butthurt and because hes the NYC mayor he gets applause...

9/11 was a very bad thing but should we just go and attack everybody that might hae been involved or reason out why they attacked us in the first place?

@ post your comments. There is a difference between taxation and our government of today taxing us until we puke. Instead of fixing our bloated government, our elected officials just want to add another tax to fix roads or help schools. This country needs a flat tax and to privatize social security to a certain extent. I want to be in control of my own money.

Why am I paying into social security when I am being told it won't be around for me to use? Wouldn't it make sense for me to invest it myself. And if people are too stupid to invest that money & instead they use that extra money to go buy jewelery and cars, then shame on them. Government is not here to support us because we can't make a useful an intelligent decision on our own.

And before you say it, I am not well off. I opened a business a year ago and am barely making it. Probably because I sit on Spikedhumor all day.

Our government was established to defend our borders and freedoms. That is it. There are too many people nowadays with their hand out and that is the easiest way to get elected. Pander to the weak. Look at what the Democrats promise. Universal healthcare, tax the rich and higher minimum wage.

Make a flat tax. If I buy something, tax me. If not, let me keep my money and live my life.

That sound you just heard was me stepping off my soapbox.
